OldSkoolBasketballParticipantYeah where you think he would go? I heard he might have to go to early retirement. That would suck since he is still good. I’m not sure if Philly is interested or have the money but I think A.I. should finish his career where he started, even if he doesn’t win a ring.

Cameron Crazy 22Participantthey didnt want him and hes still will catch on with another team
retirement is a possible but hes too good to retire early

Rubio is a beastParticipantHe wont be retiring soon. He is still an elite player, and many teams would be very happy to give him big money.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantI’ve been hearing Bobcats are interested in him. Possibly Larry Brown-A.I. reunion?

birdman113if no one else wants him then i think hell just go to the bobcats not retire.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 8:14am #173853
JNixonParticipantnot many teams would, but he will get a short deal worth about 5 mil per to see if he’s still elite and if he is a team will pay him more after the 1st one expires

RickyRubio9Participantare retirement or Charlotte or so it seems they are the only team that has contacted him, but Iverson said that he wanted to retire as an elite player not because he isn’t good enough anymore, but dude has to miss the game. He’ll play for 2 more years at least.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 8:36am #173864
RickyRubio9ParticipantEveryone says he is still very good and I’m a big A.I Fan, but he’s 34…everyone says Kobe has about 3-4 years of being elite if he keeps his work ethic and Kobe is bigger then A.I with less injuries and has played in more games by a long run. Kobe is only what…30? So the idea that Iverson is falling off a bit isn’t crazy. Kobe’s body and work ethic are better for playing the game, Iverson is small and his body has taken many hits…until he accepts he isn’t a Franchise Player then he’ll never find a team that wants him. Charlotte needs the scoring and doesn’t really have a 2 guard, why not go there? Especially if they don’t resign Raymond Felton.

Knicksboy34ParticipantI dont see him signing anywhere to start…he will have to be a 6th man..

billykParticipantIt would be coo if he signed with the Mavs: Kidd, AI, Howard, Dirk, Damp….

JoeWolf1New York has a history of signing past their prime shoot first point guards with questionable motivation for more money than they are worth. They had Marbury and Francis on the same roster for f#$# sake. If Isaiah was still there i bet he’d land in New York, but since he’s gone i bet he lands at a mid level non contending playoff team.

gratis1920Participanti hope he retires, i don’t want see him not at a high level

apb540ParticipantI will welcome him back.

IndianaBasketballParticipantHim coming back to the 76ers sounds good, but it’s not happening. I think a more realistic option is w/ the Bobcats. They’re struggling w/ attendance & I can see them taking a gamble on Iverson. We all know that if there’s one thing Iverson brings, it’s fan attraction. I also think Iverson is still a big time scorer in the NBA. The Bobcats need Iverson & Iverson needs the Bobcats.

BasketballGuru24ParticipantAI did say if he came off the bench, For another team He will Consider Retiring……So Here are a few team that will need a shooting guard..and a veteran leader
Oklahoma City- Harden is a rookie and really needs to adjust to the game before being considered a legitimate starter and with a young core like this AI Can help Them All Improve Their Game ……….( Not Best Option)
Toronto- The Raptors are losing Anthony parker to free agency, and really lack that Aggressive Shooting guard …..he also Might Be the reason Chris Bosh Doesn’t Leave Toronto
Charlotte- Possible the best answer for ” The Answer”, he has a great relationship with coach Larry Brown, and Charlotte really lacks Offensive….so AI will be a Big Boost to their playoff Push
I really don’t think Oklahoma will get Allen Iverson, because they would rather maintain a young core, and wouldn’t want any distractions to approach the team
Toronto is a great option for AI, but common Its Toronto…..Usually players will choose markets that are most talk about….and that are in U.S .A (Close to Home), but if AI Could Commit, he Would Adjust To The Team very Fast
Charlotte Will Probably get iverson, since larry brown did say he wouldn’t mind coaching AI again, and The Bobcats all ready showed intrest in signing him

Knicksboy34ParticipantIverson is not going to Charlotte.

europebasketballI would like a.i to go to philly but he can’t because of the cap they can’t afford andre miller so how are they going to sign a.i makes no sense

jgunnaParticipantChuck (Bubba chuck) is not comin’ off the bench. He’s also not going to retire. He has a good 2-3 yrs left in him being a 20 pt per game scorer simply b/c he can get to the foul line, and he has the killer instinct few ppl posess. He’s not concerned w/winning a championship, just getting money and buckets. I know personally he’d love to play in Charlotte, Philly, and Orlando, but truth of the matter is Philly and Orlando don’t need him, and don’t have the money he’s demanding. Larry Brown is the only coach aside from George Karl who can probably keep him under control…slightly, and MJ loves him so it seems like he’ll probably end up in Charlotte.

tkd720manParticipantI wouldn’t be upset if he landed in Charlotte. Just so long as he doesn’t take Felton’s starting spot, that is.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 12:49pm #174030
llperezHe’s in a tough spot because young teams are’nt gonna want to risk messing up their chemistry and older teams probably won’t have a starting spot for him. AI is a unique player who still has plenty of skills, but you have to let him play his way or it won’t work. And I don’t know if a whole lot of teams are interested in bringing in AI if he plays his way.

Stanford hoopsParticipantfirst many teams arent willing to give him big money rubio and knicks the rumor everywhere is the bobcats show the most interest in him (so far the only real interest) so him signing there isnt out of the realm of possibility..doesn any one else keep up with the offseason stuff.. al this is common knowledge i thought

MattissickParticipantI think he should take a pay cut since he has been getting paid a lot for a long time. I think he should sign with a title contending team and come off the bench and be a good scorer (ala ben gordon before this last season, and like Jason Terry). This may sound crazy but the Spurs may be the best place for him. Popovic and Duncan will allow no nonsense, they are title contenders and AI can get the backup minutes of Parker, Ginobili and the other wing player. They did just get McClinton who some think will be their scorer off the bench, but they can afford to develop him for a year and to be honest, there aren’t many better scorers than AI. I don’t like Iverson at all or the Spurs for that matter but I think with a good coach and a good supporting cast, AI will be willing to give up some minutes to win a ring. What do you guys think?
Parker/Iverson
Ginobili/Iverson
Jefferson/Ginobili
Blair/Bonner

birdman113dont they still have Finley?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 2:31pm #174097
MattissickParticipantYeah they do I believe but he’s pretty old.. and not that good. He can still hit the 3 though. Iverson can fill it up a lot better though I think.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 2:34pm #174098
birdman113Finley would probably back up the 3 insteadof Ginoble if Ginobles starting.

adjose5ParticipantI was thinking about Dallas. Why wouldn’t Cuban wanna go after him? They need offensive firepower from the 2 guard and help take pressure off Dirk and Josh Howard. He could guard the PGs on defense and Kidd is still a solid enough defender to guard the 2 guards. Plus him and Kidd have played on the 03 USA FIBA team together where they were the starting backcourt n they played in all star games together so there is some familiarity there and I think Coach Carlise will be able to handle him. He coached Artest and Stephen Jackson so I don’t see that being a problem.

jcjParticipantif he had a good attitude, he would have been a candidate to be a 6th man type on a contending team or even a starter. Problem is he continues to expect to be the star and a starter. At this point of his career, he can’t carry a team anymore, at least not a contending team. Given his attitude and his unwillingness to be a team player, his best bet is to be a hired gun/scorer for a team that doesn’t expect to win. Perhaps a 1 year contract with the Knicks while they are waiting for 2010.
