HitsterParticipantI like to look at rosters and see how many potential Hall of Fame guys they have on them. The Clippers with PG13, Harden, Westbrook and Kawhi have 4 locks and GSW likewise with Steph, Klay, CP3 and Draymond.
When it got to the NBA finals Kyrie is a lock and Doncic, Tatum and Brown are building strong cases. But now Big Al Horford has a title and Jrue Holiday has a 2nd one do people think they are HOF worthy.
Al’s basic career stats have never shown his true worth on the court. He is a 5 time All Star but has only had one All NBA 3rd team and one 2nd All Defensive Team nod. But he has had a stellar 17 year NBA career and was a double NCAA champion with Miami so that would help his resume.
Jrue has won two titles but has only been an All Star twice but he has 3 All Defensive First Team and 3 Second Team nods as well as being considered an outstanding team player. He has better stats than Big Al and has several more seasons in the NBA than Big Al is likely to have and could add extra titles.
I’d say that neither would be likely first time Ballot guys given the quality of players they will be competing against. But I do feel they are both HOF worthy.

NorrinRaddParticipanttough call for both. Good question. I think they’re both worthy of HOF status, but both have as good a chance of being snubbed. Statistically they’re right there, but for the era they play in are they really? Neither were the man on their team either. But think of how many players that played their position were slightly or just more better… It’s not a lot, but more than you would think. And with the amount of players expanded in the league, it’s hard to say what the qualifications will be in the future to make the HOF. I hope they get in, to be on the positive side – I think they barely make the cut.

HitsterParticipantBillups has gone in and his end career stats are pretty equal to Holiday’s now. Chauncy had more All Star games and All NBA nominations but less titles. If Holiday gets another title then I think he has to go in. Other players who were 3rd string guys on Championship teams have gone in.
Horford’s stats are never a true value of his worth and his college career gives him a boost but it may take a few ballots. A lot depends when he retires. Holiday might play on past some of the HOF locks too. Billups took 5 years from when he was eligible so it could be a similar weight for these guys.

NorrinRaddParticipantBillups also has an NBA finals MVP… and yeah stats in the Billups era and Holiday era are different in perspective. Horford’s back to back college titles would definitely give him a boost, but wow he played against other tough paint players in his days.
