Zeke313ParticipantHow tall is he exactly? I looked at him and Wroten standing side by side and they looked around the same height.

Zeke313ParticipantMakes sense it seems Austin is tall enough to comfortably play 2 guard full time. I wonder what would it do for his stock if he measured 6’6?

The8thDeadlySinParticipantRivers measured 6’5 in shoes and Wroten measured 6’6 in shoes.

mosdefParticipantRivers is 6’5” 200lbs. He has skills of a combo but I think he can run PG and he has good enough size to be SG. Its his ability to penetrate that gets him notice and I would assume the taller he would hypothetically be and the more he fills out the higher/better the prospect he will become. Lets not forget that Rivers was either ranked higher or tied with Anthony Davis is recruiting publications . He has always had talent

bloodshyParticipantRivers is an exceptional scorer with an amazing handle, a solid shot and solid athleticism. But he has below average floor awareness. He rarely seems to see what more than one of his teamates are doing. He has a shot to be a good 2 and/or a great combo guard as this 6th man. His jump to being a 1 is huge though. I’d be shocked if he was able to make that transition. Better to prep him for the skill set he has, which impresses.

river09ParticipantRivers has always seemed short in games to me… I would have pegged him at 6’2” ish.. Not sold on his long range shooting at all though. He will score in the NBA though..

mosdefParticipantout of all the players in this draft, if the game was on the line down by one and I needed a guy to get a shot off in the final play, I think Austin Rivers is that guy by a wide margin and that goes a long way for me

Im Your FatherParticipantI fail to see how people "aren’t sold on Rivers’s outside shooting," while Beal is consistently touted as a Ray Allen type shooter. Rivers shot 37 percent from three on a high volume of attempts at Duke, while Beal shot 34 percent on .3 more attempts per game.
Rivers’s form is unusual, but he is consistent and that’s really what matters. You don’t have to have a picture perfect shot to be a good shooter.

river09ParticipantI am not saying that River’s outside shot isn’t a threat but I think it’s the same situation as Monta Ellis’ 3p shot, they don’t need it to be effective and are more comfortable scoring creatively inside the arc. But when it’s falling it’s a bonus and they’re close to impossible to slow down..

river09ParticipantSo all these negs I’m getting. I don’t mind. But the fact no one is saying anything against it that is legitimatly really annoying. Claiming "37 percent from three on a high volume of attempts at Duke" is actually legitimate to translate to the NBA is a joke. That’s essentially saying he shot 37% from long range "mid range" shots. How is that supposed to translate to the NBA? Add a few feet to all of those shots I don’t see him being as much of a threat. But that said I don’t see that being a problem. He will score with his ability to create his own shot. But(!) he will shoot a horribly disappointing percentage from the field his rookie year. I don’t see how that can be avoided. I hope whatever team takes him can overlook that for a couple years until he settles in…

river09ParticipantAre people really sold on the fact he’ll scare NBA teams with his 3p range? That’s just not true.
