Construct a team of 12 guys you will take into a 1 game situation. Win and the title is yours. Now be realistic no teams like CP3-Kobe-LeBron-Amar’e-Dwight……A real NBA team of players who fit a certain system and can fit financially. You get 60mil in cap room to give to the 12 players. Now take this serious I wanna see who can construct the best team

You are the GM you build the team choose a coach too just be fair with the salaries remember rookies dont make that much and some vets are worth less. Just keep them 2 -3 mil within their salary.

Well I went off their actual salaries because some people value certain players higher than others…so I think that’s the most fair way to do it.

I have Durant as my feature guy offensively with Rose as my sidekick. Duncan as my guy who I dump it down to in the post if/when I need a bucket. Ray Ray as my shooter. & Love as my dirty work guy to dominate the boards and set good screens for Ray and Durant to get open looks.

Off the bench…I went with Lamar as my do-it-all 6th man. George Hill to take over the PG duties when I want to pick up the pressure defensively, but not lose a lot on the offensive end. Grant Hill as my key veteran guy who can make an impact on the game in multiple ways. Shaq to do the same job as Duncan when he needs a rest, while also getting guys in foul trouble and drawing double-teams. Eric Gordon as another shooter/scorer off the bench who I trust at any time to come in and put points on the board while also picking up the pace and intensity. Arron Afflalo as my defensive guy who isn’t afraid of any challenge and can also shoot the rock. Lastly, Big Ben Wallace…Another veteran leader who has championship pedigree and can still defend the paint and rebound.

The salary is next to the name, I sort of guestimated the values for some young players due for new contracts and I rounded for the rest of the players, so it may be way off. I’m not sure if Gasol and Mayo are worth a lot more than 8 and 7 million respectively?

PG: OJ Mayo(7 mill), Mario Chalmers(2 mill)

SG: Martell Webster(4 mill), Rudy Fernandez(2 mill)

SF: Lebron James(15 mill), Matt Barnes(2 mill)

PF: Amare Stoudemire(16 mill), Josh McRoberts(2 mill)

C: Marc Gasol(8 mill), Deandre Jordan (2 mill)

Wow, I rounded or estimated 2 million for all of my bench players, I didn’t realize that when I was making it. So this is probably not all that accurate salary wise, but I feel like this team could be really good if the salaries would match up.

I’ll just go over the starters for my team. Assuming the salaries work, I think they would mesh very well.

Amare would be a great number 2 option for Lebron. OJ Mayo would be a great number 3 and he could play the 1 because Lebron would do most of the ball handling and playmaking anyway and he is a very good shooter. Webster is also a knockdown shooter and he plays very solid defense. Gasol could do the dirty work in the paint and rebound and play defense.

I’m a little confused because I see like Eric Gordon as a 10th man and Paul Milsap as a 8th man. Are we just picking any players? You want to be realistic, here’s mine.

    Starting 5

    Rajon Rondo-O.J. Mayo-Danny Granger-Al Horford-Joakim Noah

    Bench ( in order)

    Paul Milsap-Shannon Brown-James Harden-Taj Gibson-Jason Smith-Von Wafer-D.J. White

Oh, Alright…I understand now. In that case, I like my team

    Starters

Rondo: Best defensive PG, top 3 passer and gives my team someone who can create shots

Mayo: Underrated defender (top 5 defensive SG in the NBA), good shooter and gets a boost from Rondo

Granger: 24-32 points easy, solid rebounder

Horford: Top 5 rebounder in the NBA, moves to PF, Banger

Noah: Rebounds, can get me 15 rebounds and 6 blocks while getting cheap baskets

    Bench

    Milsap: Matchup Nightmare

Brown: Combo, plays well at SG and a solid shooter/defender

Harden: Young gun who’s selfless, could create

    Gibson: Hustle Big

Smith: Solid big, 4 points, tough on D

Wafer- Showed he can play but TOO inconsitant

White- 6 fouls at its best

Assistant Coaches: Mark Jackson, Herb Williams, Lawerance Frank

    Head Coach: Phil Jackson

I like the Horford/Noah combo I chose it too but Millsap and Gibson kind of play the same and neither can go 5 like Noah or Horford I would replace Millsap or Gibson with a true Center to ass some size Sap is 6’8 and TG is 6’9 maybe adding a 7 footer would help in case of foul trouble….good job though that team is scary and they all are team players no egos and Rondo is a great leader and OJ and Danny can create their own shots as well as be spot up guys…………..Great team

this was a lil harder than i thought, but here i go. My team is a run and gun team when it can, but in the half court, they go to the big man and surround him by shooters. Dual head coaches of Van Gundy and Don Nelson, which would be absolutley funny to see haha.. So here they are:

    Pg- Rondo- 9m
    Sg- Curry- 6m
    Sf- Beasley- 6m
    Pf- Blatche- 5m
    C- Howard- 16m
    6- Instant Offense- J.R. Smith- 5m
    7- Defender- Batum- 2m
    8- Big Man- Hawes- 2m
    9- Shooter- Morrow- 4m
    10- Backup Point Guard- S.Brown- 3m
    11- 3rd PG- Dragic- 2m
    12- Do Everything- Kirilenko- 5m

Everyone on this team can run, and everyone can shoot from outside (except Howard). Probably wouldn’t win to many games but would be fun as hell to watch. Lots of head cases with Beasly, Blatche, and Smith, with Nelson would be a bad idea, but there is a fine line between a massacre and a miracle lol.

Oh, I see what he did, he used how much Aaron Brooks is making right now. I was tempted to do that with all the players, but that would allow you to have way too many super talented players still on their rookie contracts. That team could never stay together once you would have to pay them.

If you want to be realistic you should make two new rules.

    1. Limit the number of players on rookie contracts for the team.  How many guys on rookie contracts do the Lakers, Celtics, Magic, or Heat have on their team?

    2. The bench players should not be real starters in the NBA, they should be bench players.  It is laughable to see Eric Gordon coming off the bench.

Well since rookie contracts last 4 years lets go with 3 guys in their rookie deals that only counts for 1st rounders…also some starters could be considered bench players like guys out of position such as Jeff Green who could be a bench player, also guys like Millsap who starts now but is the 3rd big for Utah

that was a ric flair woooooooo right there……….they’d allow like 75 points a game and score 100 because that team can run too they’d def win a championship probably even 70 games the thing is they dont have an iso player on the wing who can get their own shot matter fact they dont have much shooters but they’d run so much they’d be on defense 75% of the game and that team and coach wouldnt mind

people r just picking the low slary stars

i rhink the person who made the thread should make the rules like this

there should be like tiers of players

like great players ex.kobe lebron wade durant

ggood players monte ellis dlee rudy gay

    role players

    and bench

who ever made the thread can make the tiers

then u can only pick a certain # of pleyrs from each

ex.one great player 2 good players 3 role 7 bench

i think that would make it more realistic

stole this idea from a post a while ago

This got very complicated very quickly haha. Biggest revelation of this thread was that you could actually give yourself points, I never tried cause it didn’t seem like something that should be allowed/done. Some of the posts that receive points make a lot more sense now!

As far as my team is concerned, the concept of rating players based on money is a strange one, but this is what I came up with…

    Starters – $44 mil

    PG – Chris Paul – $15 mil

    SG –  JR Smith – $4 mil

SF – Mickael Pietrus (sp?) – $5 mil

    PF – Serge Ibaka – $5 mil

    C – Dwight Howard – $15 mil

    Bench – $21 mil

PG – Rodrigue Beaubois (sp?) – $4 mil

    SG – Avery Bradley – $1 mil

    SF – Da’Sean Butler – $4 mil

    PF – Nick Collison – $7 mil

    C – DeAndre Jordan – $3 mil

    11th – Sasha Vujacic – $1 mil

    12th – Brian Scalabrine – $1 mil

    Coach: Doc Rivers

Okay, so basically for the starters the tandem of Howard and Paul would be devastating, Pietrus is a great defender and three point shooter on the wing, JR Smith under Rivers’ and Paul’s influence would thrive and be that isolation threat at the end of a shot clock. Howard and Ibaka would form the Block Brothers, and arguably the best interior D in the League. I’m a firm believer that D wins championships and all these starters can defend their position well.

As far as the bench goes you have a veteran presence in Collison, young athletic guards to defend and score off the bench, a defensive C in Jordan who would be a good backup for Howard and a sixth man in Butler who knows how to be a leader for the second unit.

Sasha will ride the team to a ring and could play spot minutes in case of an injury, and Scalabrine is a big red-headed good luck charm.

I really think this team could win it all against any current team in the L, including Miami, Lakers, Celtics because the players all compliment each other, they are young, defend well and have plenty of offensive firepower.

Heres alittle breakdown of my team:

The athletic combination of James, Rose, and Griffin would be unrivaled. They are essencially the big 3 lite, except, Rose, unlike Wade would be much more understanding of the "facilitate, get Lebron the ball, and then out of no where remind everybody how good you are" role. Griffin would be much better at making an impact on the boards and defensively without having to get 25 touches on offense, unlike Bosh. He also in my opinion would be much more efficient. Noah, is perfect for any of these "realistic dream teams", because hes the 1 boarderline all star who NEVER NEEDS TO TOUCH THE BALL. He could get 0 touches in the offense and come up with a double double. And Allen, easily the best 3 shooter of our generaion, just sits back at the 3 line and stretches the hell out of the defense.

The bench is just kind of a random assortment of guys who i like. I picked Gragic over a Fisher type, because I dont need a veteran who is going to be clutch, he isnt going to be seeing the floor in crunch time. I need someone to capitilize on all the backup minutes. Ditto for Brown, and his 3 shooting has been great this year. Dorell Wright is having a nice year but i dont see him playing much. Varejo is Noah lite, and Shaq takes up fouls. The last 2 guys are just bench warmers who i wouldnt mind having around.

I mean yes your team is great, but that’s only because Noah, Rose and Griffin haven’t signed big contracts yet. Your team is under the cap for now, but as soon as they signed…

It doesn’t matter. The post said to pick a team to win 1 game right now. Not giving players extensions down the line.

Plus with Bird rights it really wouldn’t matter.
