Cason Wallace vs. Keyontae George

Very little age and size difference but I’d just have the edge with Cason given his better defensive upside which I think a mid first round team would really go for.

I’m going Cason Wallace here. Both come from good schools, but Cason Wallace get a Kentucky bump. Cason as the season went on progressed a lot in leading an offense and making plays. He looked lost the first few games offensively, but once he found his comfort zone he was a good lead guard. Cason is emphatically a better defender, especially on the perimeter. Keyontae George can probably get you more buckets and isn’t a bad decision maker either, but he doesn’t run a team the way Cason does. Keyontae proved he can defend and hold his own which isn’t bad but didn’t exactly turn heads due to his defense. Offensively Keyontae has a nice handle and can shoot off the dribble pretty good. He has nice shooting range which may not have translated totally by the numbers due to his sprained ankle during the season. Cason Wallace could probably stick as a lead guard or a combo. Keyontae George is another 2 guard in this draft. There’s a very high demand for Cason as George could slip. Still they did go at each other in workouts recently and it was back and forth. Nick Smith too for that matter was duking it out with them. I think George has slightly higher offensive upside, but Cason has the better complete package imo.

I’d rather have Cason with his plus defense and unselfish play, he’ll be perfect in a Jrue Holiday role playing off another perimeter star. Keyontae will probably score more and may get paid more but position-locked 2 guards are hard to build around, I think he’ll top out at 85% of what Bradley Beal is now.

I’m very high onn Cason Wallace so I go with him. I feel like worst case scenerio you get some version of a Pat Beverley, Marcus Smart or Tony Allen. The defense will always be there but he still has huge offensive upside as well. Its just a very safe pick with high potential.

Keyontae George could be a star. I see him being used as a Buddy Hield type player. High output three point shooter. My fears here is it may take a few years for him to become effecient and he’s going to need a team whiling to invest and be patient on his development. Look at Malik Monk and how easy Charlotte gave up on him.
