Not bad. Only problem i see is Isaiah Austin going way too low in your mock draft. I think he can go as high as 16 and as low as first 5 in 2nd round though i think 2nd round is very unlikely for him

    1.  I would bet my house that Embiid doesn’t last till the 3rd pick.

    2.  I like WCS going 10…  I feel like most people are underrating him, especially this site.

    3.  Love Capela to the Thunder…  really hope that happens

    4.  McDermott is a little high but you’re right…  I can totally see the Cavs doing that.  He would be ready to contribue right away.

     To start…

Your top 3 is reasonable. I feel it would be hard for Philly and Milwaukee to pass on Parker or Wiggins and take Embiid when they already have centers/big men defenders (Sanders/Henson and Noel). Embiid is still a high risk pick, and you could even argue that Orlando would choose someone else and forgo Embiid because they have Vucevic. Although that could happen, I would be surprised if Embiid did not go top 2 just based simply on talent and potential. He should impress during workouts and I feel that workouts will only improve his draft stock if anything.

Now, 4-7 is where I have my issues. Exum at #4 is somewhat reasonable, but I view him as more of a 2 guard and with Marcus Smart on the board, it would not make sense to me for them to take Exum over Smart simply because they do have Mclemore, who is still young, athletic, and very talented. Smart brings the MUCH needed intangibles and leadership to Sacramento, and his court vision and defense are very good. The Kings need a point guard and a leader, and Smart would fit perfectly IMO. No disrespect to Isiah Thomas, but he has been on the trading block and I feel that the Kings should sell high on him if possible. Oh, and also, how is Demarcus Cousins not a franchise player? LOL.

Now, your choice at #5 has me scratching my head. Lavine is a HUGE risk, and is not NBA ready at all. Even though they are both athletic guards, he will not turn out to be Russell Westbrook. Westbrook was alot better when he got drafted than Lavine is now (but Westbrook stayed for his sophomore season). I could not see the Lakers passing up on Randle or Smart for someone who could easily bust. Lavine should stay another year and improve his game.

For your #6, Smart would be a solid pick. The Jazz have committed to Favors so that seemingly would rule out them selecting Randle. If Exum were available at 6 (which I think he will be), than I think Utah would go for him.

Thank god you finally had Randle going at #7. That is the obviously right choice. Although I highly doubt he will fall to 7, the Celtics would be excited to have him at that pick.

The rest of your draft seems pretty good. Hood and Young should go up a bit, but other than that it seems solid.

Thanks. My reasoning behin the Exum pick is that they should find a new player to build around. Cousins could be the second option on a team with Exum & McLemore as building blocks alongside. Lavine certaintly isn’t ready but sometimes, teams would rather go for upside especially a Laker team that doesn’t have any assets to move up. It’s like swinging for the fences and see if it pans out. At the very least, he can be an athletic 3 & D.

Lavine is good fit for the Lakers. They might end up drafting more like 7th or 8th (they’ve got players coming off the DL now) and he might still be there. He can really hit the 3 (D’Antoni requirement) and he’s super athletic. You noted him as a SG, but I think he’s a PG. He’s only at the 2 because Kyle Anderson is a passing monster and finally having success. Lavine has great handles, but I haven’t really seen him pass.

I highly doubt the Lakers would go for Lavine. Kobe is still a laker, and he wants to win. Randle and Smart would be who they would go over Lavine. The Lakers want to win now, and IMO they would go for the NBA ready prospects.

Just a few things that made me scratch my head:

    1. How do you think that DeMarcus Cousins isn’t a franchise piece during his most productive season in the NBA? I would argue that he has been the best C this season so far.

    2. Who does Philly have that makes them "set at the wing positions"?

    3. The last thing Minnesota needs is another point guard, I think there are better fits and players available when they are drafting.

I don’t see why Ben Mac and Exum can’t play together.

Ben is like 6’5 with an almost 6’8 wing span and a 42 inch vert.

He could play the 3 IMO. Even if it’s not the super ideal best case scenario.
