Hatu SetuParticipantAfter reading a lot of stuff on these draft prospects and seeing several player comparisons I got curious as to how the draft would go if we only had their player comparisons as an evaluation for the draft. I’ve got the top 20 prospects and the two most common or what I believe to be the most accurate comparisons and would like to see how your lottery picks would go. I’ll list the comps (some will be mixes between two players) and you give me the top 14 picks of the draft. Later I’ll give you who the draftee is.
Jaren Jackson Jr./Mitchell Robinson
Tobias Harris/Harrison Barnes
Dante Exum/Caris LeVert
Kirk Hinrich
Jacob Poeltl/Walker Kessler
Andrei Kirilenko
D. Finney Smith
Josh Jackson/Andrew Wiggins
Terrance Ross/Rex Chapman
Bones Hyland/Brandon Jennings
Jaden McDaniels
Goran Dragic/Josh Giddy
Cole Anthony/Bruce Brown
Seth Curry
Reggie Bullock/K.C.P.
Tyreke Evans
N.A.W./Shaun Livingston
Myles Turner/Brook Lopez
Doug McDermott/Mike Dunleavy
Kyle Anderson
Ivica Zubac/Bojan Marjanovic
Kevin Huerter
Mark Williams/Clint Capela
Channing Frye/Trey Lyles

NorrinRaddParticipantI can tell who some of the draftees are based on what I’ve heard from scouts. That being said, I don’t agree with most scouts on comps. I’ll try to understand how to participate in this anyways…
Here’s my top 14 according to the latest mock I dropped:
1 – ATL – Alexandre Sarr – PF/C – France – 19.2
2 – WAS – Zaccharie Risacher – F – France – 19.2
3 – HOU – Donovan Clingan – C – UConn – 20.3
4 – SAN – Reed Sheppard – G – Kentucky – 20.0
5 – DET – Tidjane Salaun – F – France – 18.9
6 – CHA – Devin Carter – G – Providence – 22.3
7 – POR – Stephon Castle – G – UConn – 19.7
8 – SAN – Dalton Knecht – SG/SF – Tennessee – 23.2
9 – MEM – Nikola Topic – G – Serbia – 18.9
10 – UTA – Robert Dillingham – PG – Kentucky – 19.5
11 – CHI – Matas Buzelis – F – Gleague – 19.7
12 – OKC – DaRon Holmes – PF/C – Dayton – 21.9
13 – SAC – Cody Williams – SG/SF – Colorado – 19.6
14 – POR – Yves Missi – C – Baylor – 20.11+ - Posted on: Wed, 06/19/2024 - 5:46am #1264554
HitsterParticipantI’ve seen some of those comparisons and can figure a fair few out but I’ll be interested to know who the AK47 comparison is?

Hatu SetuParticipantI guess I should give an example.
Pick 1 -Atl- knowing Atl needs a center or better outside shooting I’d pick a player that would have the game like Myles Turner/Brook Lopez.
Pick 2 Wash- needs BPA. I’d probably go with Tobias Harris/Harrison Barnes
Pick 3 Hou- Kirk Hinrich
Pick 4 SA- needs a PG maybe a player like Cole Anthony/Bruce Brown
Ect.
I know player comparisons aren’t always accurate because there just someone’s opinion. I was just curious who people would want if these player comps were accurate for these draftees careers.1+ - Posted on: Wed, 06/19/2024 - 8:19pm #1264557
NorrinRaddParticipantI’d have different comps, but here we go…
1 – ATL – Myles Turner/Brook Lopez – if ATL can draft a Myles Turner defense in a weaker draft, that’s a major win. Brook Lopez floor isn’t bad either.
2 – WAS – JJJ/Mitchell Robinson – WAS in this scenario plays copycat to ATL, drafting some serious defense with a high floor in a weaker draft.
3 – HOU – Goran Dragic/Josh Giddey – HOU – with no clear need available by skillset, Rockets bring a playmaker like Giddey in hopes the shot comes around to fit better like a Dragic would.
4 – SAN – Andrei Kirilenko – SAN can’t pass up an opportunity of pairing a Kirilenko with Wemby. While there’s no homerun prospect of the draft, this could be a homerun pick.
5 – DET – Tobias Harris/Harrison Barnes – DET needs a 4 that can play off ball some do well on both ends of the floor. Someone who can space the floor as well.
6 – CHA – Terrenc Ross/Rex Chapman – CHA needs an off ball wing that can space the floor so LaMelo can find another open weapon.
7 – POR – Jaden McDaniels – POR needs a defensive specialist and some spark to their roster. A guy in a positional need that can space the floor is a bonus too in a guy like Jaden McDaniels.
8 – SAN – Mark Williams/Clint Capela – Although PG maybe more needed, big is a need and best available prospect at the moment. Rebounding and defense added to the table is good for SAN.
9 – MEM – Jakob Poeltl/Walker Kessler – MEM gets an obvious choice here, filling a position of need and adding defense, rebounding and some half court sets on both ends.
10 – UTA – Tyreke Evans – UTA needs anything but frontcourt and the best available prospect. Tyreke Evans would arguably be that at this point in the draft.
11 – CHI – Kyle Anderson – CHI needs about everything. Kyle Anderson type of play could go very far if they had a F like him. A versatile role guy could be a start to a rebuild.
12 – OKC – Cole Anthony/Bruce Brown – OKC doesn’t have many needs, but rather drafts the skillset available at the top that fits the build the most. In this case scoring and defense.
13 – SAC – Kevin Huerter – SAC seems to be having a little Huerter flashbacks here. They can use a wing with a shot.
14 POR – NAW/Shaun Livingston – POR gets best prospect available perhaps and someone who can defend and generate offense by setting up the play.

dmo21ParticipantI tried not to think about who the actual player might be and drafted solely on who the comparison is. So this is what I got.
1. Atlanta takes JJJ. I don’t think center is their main weakness as they still do have Capela and Okungwu. JJJ can play center but he’s better at the forward position. I think JJJ is the best player in this draft and has the most potential.
2. Washington takes Turner. Had a chance to go number 1, Washington takes what’s left over.
3. Houston takes Kirilenko. Houston has solid starters at all their positions and have no huge need, especially for a player who needs the ball. So why not draft a dynamic defensive player who can play both forward positions.
4. San Antonio takes Jennings. A bit high for Jennings, but he was very good for a little bit in the league. Would be a good lead guard pairing with Wemby.
5. Detroit takes Tobias Harris. They could use a forward and they need shooting. Seems like an easy match.
6. Charlotte takes Wiggins. They swing for the fences on this one, hoping he can line it all up and be a star.
7. Portland takes KCP. A 3&D wing to fit into this young team.
8. San Antonio takes Capela. Gives them the ability to put Wemby at the 4 sometimes so he doesn’t have to bang around so much.
9. Memphis takes Poeltl. They are looking for a solid center to replace Adams. Well, here you go!
10. Utah takes Tyreke Evans. Another swing for the fences pick to try and give this team some life.
11. Chicago takes McDaniels. Bulls are weak at the forward positions. Nice 3&D player to fit into a team that is just trying to make the playoffs each year
12. OKC takes Zubac to give them some girth next to Chet.
13. Sacramento takes Huerter. They might like a player like that seeing that they already have him. Good replacement for Monk.
14. Portland takes a swing here and goes for Ross. Hoping the potential pans out with this athletic shooter.

Hatu SetuParticipantHere’s the players and their comps. I don’t agree with all of these but most of these are the most common comps I’ve seen on the several websites and Youtube vids.
JJJ/M.Robinson = A. Sarr
T Harris/H.Barnes = Z Risacher (most common was actually R. Lewis but I don’t see him being that good of a shooter/scorer)
D.Exum/ C. LeVert = S. Castle
K. Hinrich = Sheppard
Peoltl/Kessler = Clingan
Kirilenko = Buzelis (most common was F. Wagner, but I heard someone say his help defense is reminiscent to Kirilenko and liked it.)
Finney-Smith= T. Salaun (I also saw B. Diaw a couple of times, I’d guess the older version of Diaw, not his younger days)
JJ/Wiggins = Holland
T.Ross/R.Chapman = Knecht
Hyland/ B. Jennings = Dillingham
McDaniels = Cody Williams
Dragic/Giddy = Topic
Anthony/Brown = D. Carter (since posting this I’ve seen more people compare him to D. White & I like it)
Seth Curry = McCain
Bullock/KCP = J. Walter (A. Afflalo was mentioned several times also)
T Evans = I Collier
NAW/Livingston = Carrington
Turner/Lopez = K. Ware
McDermott/Dunleavy = Furphy
K. Anderson = da Silva
Zubac = Edey
Huerter = Ky George ( Joe Ingles and Cam Johnson were mentioned several times also)
Williams/Capela = Missi
Frye/Lyles = T. Smith
Olynyk = Filipowski2+ - AuthorPosts
