Shootout to Grant Hill for playing his 1000th game against the rockets tonight! It seems like a couple of years ago where he was on his way out of the league due to injuries; it sucks his years of dominance were so short he could’ve been one of the greatest all around forwards in the game if he could’ve stayed healthy.

I agree, I think their Achilles heel is their head coach, this guy just doesn’t know what to do in crunch time; if the Clippers do win this years title I expect fans and analysts to leave del negro alone, much like Erik spoelstra

I agree with your point but there’s only one way for him to gain that experience and that’s by staying with the Clippers. By accounts, he’s done quite well managing the players and keeping egos in check although he hasn’t displayed a great deal of coaching prowess or savvy, having said that, he deserves the opportunity to hone his craft, he can still improve as a coach. Considering how strong the current Clipper team is, it’s scary to think they’re holding back and haven’t reached their full potential yet, there’s still room for growth on this team from the coaching staff to the players. Del Negro is still learning, Griffin and Jordan are still young and Eric Bledsoe could be big player for the Clippers come playoff time.

The Clippers have a mix of star players, veterans and young talent, getting the right mix at the crunch time is perhaps the key to how far they can go. Surely you’d want a fit Billups, Hill etc on court with CP3, Griffin and co down the stretch of a game.

Nice to see Grant’s 1000th game acknowledged, ironically up to this season he had been fairly sound over the last 6 seasons – his last at Orlando and his stay in Phoenix. It was a great pity he could have not played the majority of these games during his Orlando tenure as these were potentially his peak years and he had the still and popularity to have cecome maybe a dozen time all star.

I was just looking at some Grant Hill information, I didn’t even remember that despite his many injury plagued seasons he made the all star team 7 times…including the one year when he was on the Magic where he was healthy.

If Grant Hill never got injured badly, I’d have to imagine he’d be extremely dominant still and one of the best all around forwards.

I was at the game and he still plays tough. Definitely lost athleticism though. He tried a windmill twice in warmups and got stuffed by the rim. Haha. The young guys gave him a hard time and it was funny. What makes the Clippers special is their team chemistry. It is awesome to watch everybody on that team cheer for one another and laugh and joke around. Jamal Crawford went off in the 4th quarter and the starters were on the bench going crazy. So was the crowd as he hit probably 4 tough shots in 4 possessions. I’m rambling because I had fun. Lol.

Anyway, Grant Hill is still in amazing shape and we were robbed of a great player for too long. I think he is a HoFer considering it is the basketball HoF and college counts as well. This guy needs to be an ambassador to the game when he retires at the least. He could probably run for some type of government office as well. Special player and special human being.

I saw an interview thing he did with Oprah and he was talking about when he had surgery complication on his ankle and almost died because of an infection. It was very moving. Big ups to Grant Hill and one of the NBA’s biggest “what if”s of all time and even then, he had a wonderful career and I hope he can get a ring before it’s all said and done.

Grant Hill is a once in a generation class act guy who made no excuses for himself when he dealt with injuries throughout his career. His 1000th career game is a testament of that. 1st ballot HOF’er player in my opinion.

he had some great seasons before he had all his injury problems. here is three of his best season stat lines. 20.2 ppg 9.8 rpg, 6.9apg 1.2 spg. here is another season 21.4 ppg 9.0 rpg, 7.3 apg, 1.8 spg. Here is his last season before all the injury problems 25.8 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 5.2 apg, 1.4 spg. That was as he was hitting his peak, the season after that started all his injury problems, he only played 4 games that season. He easily could have made 10 to 12 all star games and went down as starting the revolution of SFs like what lebron, carmelo, durant have gone on to do.

Such a class act. Loved him here in Phoenix and he will be ANOTHER valuable leader in that Clipper locker room along with Chauncey, Caron Butler, CP3, etc… They say age before beauty, but in Grant Hill’s case those two go hand in hand, as even though hes aging, his game is still beautiful to watch.

Grant certainly deserves HOF consideration and his popularity makes him a huge contender as does his college career backing up his NBA achievements. Whether he gets in on his first eligibility maybe depend on when he retires given the very other strong contenders who are nearing the end of their careers. But if his first eligibility year isn’t too loaded, I can certainly see him getting in and hope that he does.
