Harrison Barnes has really grown and it’s showing on the biggest stage…I seen him do some nifty crossovers, spins, and fakes last night that surprised me…He never displayed that at North Carolina…Now he could beat defenders off the dribble with ease..I think the Cavs will regret taking Dion Waiters over Harrison Barnes…Barnes looks like a future all-star

Barnes is honestly a perfect fit in golden state.

Golden state has shown how to rebuild a franchise the right way. Reminds a lot of how okc rebuilt. They have really drafted well the last couple of years. Harrison Barnes was a steal. Cavs are defiantly kicking them self for not taking him.

My friend who is a HUGE Warriors fan was so upset on draft day they took Barnes over Drummond. All year I had to continually convince him that Barnes has big upside and fits better with them than Drummond. Barnes is validating my arguments in this post season. My only concern is remember a year or two back when it seemed like Evan Turner was taking a big step against the Heat in the first round and he never really continued with that exponential growth.

Roy Williams is not a coach that brings out the best talent in his players. Harrison Barnes sat on the perimeter and shot jumpshot after jumpshot. I figured his NBA career would far outpace his (albeit short-lived) UNC career.

Agree with you 100%. I’m not ready to call McAdoo an all star just yet. But i think he will be a better pro than most people think he will be. Roy gets by on talent. He is not a great coach. His system is best suited for point guards and big men. All his wings have to be jumpshooters otherwise they won’t get many minutes. Look at J.P. Tokoto

Roy’s system has nothing to do with McAdoo’s struggles. It’s set up for bigs so McAdoo’s struggles are on him. The missed open 15 foot jump shots, with more airballs than I can ever recollect, the poor finishing around the rim and the ineffective post play has been on him, not the system.

For Barnes, I think the system was terrible for him because in general, it’s terrible for wing players. It has two bigs set up time after time on either side of the rim and doesn’t give wing players the opportunity to drive. It’s not balanced. For every ten post feeds Barnes made, he might have had one opportunity to drive.

It’s going to be tough for him to be an All Star in Golden State. Curry and Thompson shoot too much for him to consistently have his time to shine. Until then he’s going to be a great role player because he does lots of things well and plays great defense.

Spacing and the way defense is allowed to be played compared to the college game is why Barnes is being successful. The college game is officiated to allow the less talented teams to have more of a chance to compete. The posts blaming Roy are simply not informed.

Barnes was a streaky player during both of his years at UNC and was streaky this year. On February 25 of 2012, Harrison Barnes was having a tremendous sophomore season and deserving of All-American type praise, he couldn’t make a shot from there forward. He went into a deep funk as a freshman starting with the 0-12 against Minnesota and didn’t really snap out of it until the semester ended. This year, he had a 15 game stretch where he shot 32 percent from the field, 23 percent from three, 65 percent from the line, and averaged all of 6.4 PPG. The other 80 percent of the year, he put great numbers. The rest of the year, he shot 46 percent from the field, 39 percent from three, 78 percent from the line, and averaged 9.9 PPG as a 5th option. Some guys are more prone to extended funks than others, and it seems as though Barnes is a guy who can go through a stretch where the sky is the limit for him and then look like one of the worst players going.

Barnes either guy. I had them 1,2 in that draft in terms of talent. Lillard shocked the hell out of me but I never really saw the kid play.

I don’t think the Cavs are kicking themselves just yet. Barnes has definitely shown his potential but Dion could still prove to be something special. He’s shown a lot of growth in just his first season.

Being a Basketball Player I always knew Barnes would be one of the Top Rookies in the league.The NBA game is More Spread out and teams do not play zone 60% of the time besides He averaged 18ppg in college along with playing with Zeller who averaged 16-17 and Henson who averaged 14ppg. When you are a scorer the college game really doesnt benefit your skill set unless you go to a program where you are the 1st and 2nd option like KD,Beasley,Mayo,Gordon,Surry ect… Barnes should have went as high as number 2 to the Bobcats. But Golden State drafted the right guy they will def be a hell of a team if they can keep Curry,Thompson and Barnes together.

Barnes is looking good going to the basket in the playoffs mainly because he has been playing the 4 since David Lee went out and Jack has been inserted into the starting lineup. Having guys like Randolph and Faried guard you on the perimeter is a much better matchup for him then having Iggy or Brewer guarding him. This run will certainly help his confidence but he still needs to work on his ball handling skills in the offseason so he can be just as effective as a 3. I think he is a top 5 player in the class behind Davis, Lillard, Drummond and Beal. Cleveland probably should have taken him over Waiters because he seems like he would fit better with Kyrie as well.

I just want all of the MKG fans to come out. Last year there were only a few of us who were saying we’d take Barnes over MKG in the draft and in the future, and as of right now, Barnes is better.

MKG had his moments, but I think his shot is even worse than we thought, if it doesn’t improve how would you feel drafting the next “Gerald Wallace” number 2? Harrison Barnes was getting Paul Pierce comparisons at one point in the year. I still like the Jamal Mashburn/Glen Rice comparisons, but i’d take any one of those 3 players of Gerald Wallace.

And Waiters started coming on after January, but Barnes is just a better fit, also friends with Kyrie already, but the Cavs are still holding out hope for Lebron lol
