whats the deal with measuring guys in shoes? is there a standard shoe they all wear for the measurement? personally, i dont understand the point in that. their height on the court would be determined by what shoes they play in anyway. why dont you take their weight in full uniform while you’re at it?!! somebody fill me in…

I had always wondered the same thing. I mean I know I am 5’8″ without shoes but depending on what shoes I can range from 5’81/2″ to maybe even 5’91/2″. I feel the difference depending on the shoes I wear.

in basketball height is viewd as a talent and when competing EVERY INCH matters. for me competing at the juco level I can basically see a real difference in players height every 2 inches. im listed at 6 foot 6 but is a smidgen under 6 5 and clear 6 foot 6 in shoes you think the players you see are tall their not guarennteee im taller than kobe cuz im bout a inch shorter than luke walton….nd its a bball thing we lie bout our height

Thats a good point. I remember Kevin Love last year was like 6-7 but 6-9 in shoes…so sometimes I guess it does make a big difference. But usually its about 1 inch of a difference. Regardless, the only important height is the height in shoes…they don’t play barefoot!

well measuring them in shoes is like their game height.. they arent playing in bare feet, and some guys where different sizes of shoes, and thus makes a lil difference

lol! yeah, but baseball players arent measured in spikes! nascar drivers arent measured in driver seats! lol! they should just measure them barefoot and then tell them how tall they want them to be, so they can buy the appropriate shoes! all jokes aside, its like listing football players at what they weigh in pads.

but basketball is different than everyother sport..because height is an advantage in a game, being tall in baseball doesnt really help you much.. and some guys will get drafted different by that extra inch they have, its ridiculus, but it happens

and another problem for me is you have guys who are legimitely their listed height, like KG and Durant. then you have guys like Delonte West measuring 6’1 and change, being listed before at 6’4. if you’re like me, you like to use yourself to compare player heights. lets just say i’m not as impressed by the size of the players as i used to be.

if there goin to have players listed heights with shoes then it should apply for everyone watch, you see this in effect all the time for instance i was watchin an interview with b easy and KD, KD has a good 2-3 inches mike b but hes listed at 6’10 and KD at 6’9 if KD wanted to he could easily list himself at 6’11 or 7 feet i mean guys like renaldo balkman and thaddeus young measured in at 6’5 and maybe a quarter or half inch and theyre listed at 6’8 some players just take it to far, but one thing that is really rare to see a player is down grade his height and one person i can think of is desmond mason hes listed at 6’5 but he measured in at 6’6 and 6’7 and some change with shoes, so he could easily pass for 6’8 in the league and possibly even 6’9 if he wanted to like joey dorsey does and the others guys i talked about that lie about 3 inches or so, i guess it just depends on the player if hes self conscious about his height but i still dont know why you would downgrade i mean mason doesn’t need to list himself at 6’7 or 6’8 but damn atleast your real height of 6’6 would be good i guess he just wants ppl to think he has amazin hops (which he does) b.c. you would assume that if hes listed at 6’5 he would be in the 6’3 range not 6’7 range.

Height doesnt MATTER period. Its all about skill level, if you can get it done on the court thats all that matters. I dont really think JC ball is corny if you got decent skills its actually FREE MONEY. 1 or 2 years of JC or Community College if you got skills you can transfer to a decent college play 2 more years of basketball and get a FREE EDUCATION….
