Jaime Jaquez, Jr. or Brandin Podziemski?1+ - Posted on: Sat, 06/17/2023 - 5:10am #1260682
OhCanada-ParticipantI’m high on both players. I think both are extremely underrated. When we look back on this draft there probably wont be 15 players better then these 2. Podziemski is who I have here.
Jaquez isn’t the most athletic, he isn’t a great shooter, his playmaking could be better but he’s just a competitor. He is out there making competitive plays because he wants to win and he’s having fun enjoying competiing. He’s going to be a good player on a winning team. How much he develops and howbig of a role he has I don’t know but he’s an NBA player for sure.
Brandin Podziemski is gonna get picked alot higher than people are suggesting. I’m guessing late teens/early 20’s. Not a comparison but his game reminds me of Steph Curry. He has unlimited range and can pull upon you from just about any position at any time. Utilizes picks well, can run down screens to find open shots. He’s a very versatile scorerr and has good playmaking as well. I think he can be a star if he goes to the right situation.

OhCanada-ParticipantThis might sound crazy but Ithink Toronto is considering Brandin at 13.

NorrinRaddParticipantHad to see if this one gets traction, as these guys have been ranked on that fringe first round pick by the consensus for the past couple of months. Jaime Jaquez, Jr. for me is a bigger game manager type guy with a high IQ for the game and a solid locker room character guy. I think most teams can use a player like Jaime Jaques, Jr. He is a good team defender and he’s scrappy. He doesn’t make mistakes and knows his limitations which might be his biggest strength. Of the two players, Jaquez is a little better rebounder, stronger, and has a little more length.
The reason I believe this is easy though is because Brandin Podziemski would be one of my prospects. He’s got underrated athleticism and shoots as good as anyone in the draft. He’s right there with Gradey Dick and Jordan Hawkins. He’s a younger sophomore too, so he has room to improve his game. He shoots on the move really well which is still a bit rare and he has some underrated defense. He crushed Maxwell Lewis head to head in the regular season who’s been consistently rated higher. He also has performed well in big games and big events like the combine he did well. His handle I think is rock solid and he’s going to stick no matter where he lands. Jaquez will need help to stick. Depends on the team. With Podziemski he’ll fit anywhere.

sweaterflexParticipantAgree with pretty much everything OhCanada posted, Podz has Desmond Bane-like upside and deserves late lottery looks. Jaime has all the intangibles and can probably get 15-20 minutes a game next year for a playoff team.
