Even I have to admit, this is getting kind of crazy (lol). But it’s true, the 5th grader is not only playing HS varsity ball, he’s actually performing very well (averaging a double-double). The story was first reported by MaxPreps and has quickly taken a life of it’s own as you can well imagine. Here’s my take on the pint sized prodigy.

They were two of the worst high school teams I’ve ever saw. Playing in the worst gym. He also has an average BBall IQ. I loved his ball handling skill set. I wouldn’t have posted this video if I were apart of his camp though.

He has an average basketball IQ? How can you tell?? I mean unless you have seen him play alot or something.. From that video, you cannot tell.. If you look at his stats, you would think he has an extreemly high BBIQ. He is playing with a team where he is the 2nd or 3rd best player yet he is still averaging 11ish assist?? That means that either he has great shooters, I highly doubt, or he is setting up players to score.. As a 5th grader, if you are setting up anyone to score, you have grerat IQ.. Also, he is averaging 4ish steals a game.. Do you think he is getting on ball steals?? I dont know for sure but it seems inprobable.. That means he is playing the passing lanes very very well.. IMO, if you can time and steal a ball in any league, you have pretty good BBIQ..

I honestly don’t care if these were the worst highschool teams of all time… The kid is in the 5th grade and he scored 91 points in 3 quarters in a middle school game, so they moved his lil ass up to the Varsity, and he’s still lighting it up. I don’t know if he’ll make the NBA, there are so many different factors that are involved some uncontrollable, but I’ll tell you what, he’s got a leg up on probably every 5th grader in the world.

Wow! This kids handle and shot release are amazing for a 5th grader playing against kids 5-7 years older than him. Hopefully he gets to a good height and keeps improving because he certainly has potential to be a great.

What? There are eligibility issues with high school basketball. I’m skeptical a kid would be allowed 8 years of eligibility to play high school athletics. Most schools don’t have a 5th or 6th grade team. This just seems fishy to me. You generally have 4 years eligibility and they can make exceptions for a 5th.

8 years just seems off. Even if it’s some weird homeschool team, you’d think he’d be prevented from transferring to a higher level of competition due to 4 years of varisty basketball already played by the time he’d be ready to goto the 9th grade. I wonder about his development, if he cannot go play at a higher level of competition. It may be better for him now to play older players, but he’ll never be able to goto an elite school to play, he’ll be stuck there for 7 more years, unless there are some loopholes I’m unaware of.

Ok, first off who hates on a 5th grader? Yes, the team sucked but the kid is in the 5th grade. His IQ might not be the best and he might not be the biggest but again, he’s in the 5th grade. With all these schools like Oak Hill and Findlay Prep I’m sure he’ll do just fine by time he reaches the 9th grade. Let him play up and get that experience because anyone that played nows all that really matters (well what matters the most) is AAU tournaments. Hope to see more of him as the years go by.

It’s a private school. They don’t have to obey state rules because the don’t compete in state tourneys or play other public (run by the state) schools.

Yea, Baylor had a point guard a few years ago that started playing in like the 6th grade. He’s the states all time leading scorer or was. Tweety Carter I think.

I see this all the time, first there was Jashaun Agosto and Allonzo Trier, then Jaylin Fleming and Damon Harge. People saying “Oh my god this kid’s the next Jordan.” Most of these little phenoms dont turn into anything. None of these players may even be top 50 in their class.
