valentineI’m trying to be objective here, cos I love the king…
Saw a statistic on TV that showed Lebron’s shooting percentage in the last 5 seconds of close games.
5 for 47!
He makes less than 1 in 9 Gamewinning/tying baskets.
How can anyone say hes anything but the LEAST clutch player in history.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantIf it wasn’t for Durant playing scared everytime he see’s lebron the man would only have one championship playing for a boarder line all star team. It’s been a knock on him since he was a rookie. He wants to make the pass that wins the game not the shot. Still one of the all time great players. But you could argue if he had kobe’s killer instincts he would have 4-6 rings by now.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantC’mon man the Lebron hate is real. I can’t believe so many people gave you positives for that. Criticize Lebron for not winning championships if you want but don’t try to take away the championships he has won by coming up with ridiculous reasons like "Durant playing scared"
Or make baseless assertions that with "Kobe’s killer instincts" he would somehow have been single-handedly able to take garbage supporting cast to championships in 2007 and 2015. Or completely turn around a one sided series in 2014. the Spurs won 4-1 with the greatest point margin of victory in NBA history, having Kobe’s killer instinct might have won the Heat an extra game or two and maybe made some scores closer but it would not have resulted in a series win.

frogmanParticipantI don’t know where you got that 1/9 gamewinning shots from because that is simply wrong but whatever.
Since the start of Lebron’s rookies season he has made 17 game winning shots while missing 33.
In the same period everyone’s favorite clutch player Kobe has made 14 while missing 42.
And another fun stat I just stumbled upon: LeBron James has taken 10 go-ahead shots in final 5 sec. of 4Q or OT in playoffs. He’s made 6. Michael Jordan was 5-of-11 in his career.
Everyone tries to discredit James for whatever reason but if it makes you feel better yes Lebron is the least clutch player in history. Maybe the Heat had it right when Eddie House took the final shot in Lebron’s first couple of games in a Heat uniform.

Hype MachineDont shoot the messenger my good man. Let me quote directly…
"Worst game tying/goahead fg%"
Last 5 seconds of 4th quarter
1. Jamal Crawford 3 for 30 (10%)
2 Lebron James 5 for 47 (10.6%)
3. Brandon Jennings 3 for 27 (11.1%)
4. Andre Iguodala 5 for 37 (13 5%)
(Min 25 shots)

nath09ParticipantI want to know where the shots are from. Can you please tell me what 6 foot 9, 6 foot 10 guys through history have the range and ability to be even considered as clutch and given the ball in that situation .

Hype MachineLarry Bird comes to mind. But hes not a good shooter…he should take the ball to the hoop and get a higher % shot

nath09ParticipantI can’t believe it. I’m huge Bird fan and didn’t even think of him. As I say I would like to see a breakdown of the shots. I’m sure he took alot less of those shots when he had Ray Allen on the floor.

NJHooper95ParticipantAbout the stats but I know that Lebron is not very clutch and as the face of his generation not clutch for the title at all. He usually makes the right play if he has to pass but him shooting it is not in his favor. Great player but cannot be mention with guys known for big shot Jordan, Magic, Bird, Isaiah, Miller, Allen, and so on. If the Cavs come down to one shot I would much rather Irving take it. Like him, hate him, hate his defense, whatever, the guy is clutch regardless.

trelos6ParticipantI’d rather have an open Eddie House taking a high percentage 3, than ISO Joe going 1 on 1 for a difficult shot
It’s a team game. Make the right play.

tuck243ParticipantLeBron was better than Kobe in "clutch" percentage. Vince Carter was up there too. You haven’t provided a link, can you please provide the link to this stat? Thanks

tuck243ParticipantFound a couple links…
One link says he’s a terrible shooter in the regular season. That’s the 5-47.
https://twitter.com/ESPNStatsInfo/status/703418439071875072
The next says he’s the best of this generation in the playoffs.
http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/lebron-may-be-the-most-clutch-playoff-shooter-of-his-generation/
He’s an enigma basically…

Hype MachineHaha I have too much respect for u guys (and Lebron) to make this stuff up.
I hate to say it..but the title of the thread applies. He is simply the worst clutch player ever.
Note the stat only applies for the last 10 years.

NBAjunkie81Participantpeople from this Generation can Not even begin to comprehend the Individual greatness of Wilt Chamberlain, Dr. J Julius Erving, Michael Jordan for example………
but NONE of them EVER overcame a Great team when their team was Not the Better team………. Never – Not One Time………
Lebron’s Miami Heat were a Dominant team for a 4 year stretch…………. they made 4 straight Finals & won 2 Rings….. they should have won 3 (Dallas)……… & Lebron won back to back Rings w/ Back to Back Finals MVP’s………
Only a handful of men have Ever accomplished such a Feat……… Lebron made 7 Finals……. Which is Remarkable……..
but this Cleveland team is NOT a Great team………. Not even Close………. James is playing w/ Inexperienced "Star Players" in Kyrie & Love……… OKC or San Antonio would have BEaten Cleveland too……..
Congrats to Golden State….. they are a Joy to Watch & they are Certainly one of the Great Teams of NBA History & they are the Dominant team of this Era………………. Lebron is what he is – an All Time Great player & a Champion……… Who is on the Back side of his Prime………………………
