As usual Nba 2k14 default rosters are terrible, they’re missing many players and some ratings are just ridicolous, I don’t wanna list them but some are just unacceptable and it’s almost impossible to play a realistic game with those ratings. So I tried and look for some better rosters in the internet (I do own the PC version of the game) but I couldn’t find anything that was really better. Since I know that there are a lot of fans of the game here I wanted to know if anybody managed to find some decent roster update and can share it or at least knows where to find it. Thanks.

I own it on pc too(until the ps4 comes out) the online community is slack with this one, I’ve looked man. I don’t understand how most of the second round picks are rated higher than the first rounders.

Great website with good work if you take time to find your love (
I don’t know if they have already posted something about 2k14 but their work on 2k13 was GREAT (complete roster refound with realistic ratings tendancies and sliders, realistic Draft class with cyber face for 13 and 14 and even 15 without cyberface)

Thx dude, but I already knew this one (I also usually look for 2k stuff on nbasky and nba2k4life) and unfortunately they don’t have much right now.

Man I’m really pissed off with this new one, they basically didn’t change anything in the game and even worst the ratings suck big time. I can’t help but hate ’em when I see Iman Shumpert rated 84 and Gordon Hayward 66 or so.

The rosters are always a bit behind when the game releases. When you’re trying to produce thousands of copies of games you have to have a cut off. If you read when the game loads it clearly states the rosters were accurate by a certain date(It’s usually late August). So of course it’s going to be incorrect that’s a 2 month difference. 2K is pretty good about updating the rosters once the season begins though, you just need to be patient.

You can also just download someone else’s rosters or modify them yourself.

It doesn’t matter what date they are accurate of, they should be based off a player’s play last year which would be included in an August roster update. What is going to happen in the last 2 months that would make information incorrect? Anyways, I don’t actually have the game so I don’t know how bad or good they are.

I was mostly referring to the inaccuracy of the rosters than the player ratings. In two months some players get cut, picked up, etc. But it does seem the first shipment has some odd player ratings, it’s like they’re just assuming a few players are going to be a bit better than the previous season so they compensate for it. I don’t agree with it, but honestly I don’t know why all the fuss.

The difference of a player at 70 rating to 80 rating is honestly not that different. On paper the 80 rated player is obviously better in *most* categories, but in an actual game the guy with a 70 rating can still dominate an 80 if you know how to play the game in general.

I did a fantasy association and my center ended up being Nikola Vucevic. I like him a lot in the NBA, but in the game he’s terrible. He has a 75 overall rating which is pretty good, and he has high rebound ratings (A if I’m not mistaken). But this dude does NOT rebound in the game. I’ve played about 20 games in my association now and Vucevic plays around 35 minutes and he averages only 6 RPG…my other post player is Tristan Thompson and he averages 11 RPG. Jason Maxiell comes off the bench and only plays about 14 minutes and averages 5 RPG.

The same happened to me. Somehow I got Hibbert with the Spurs and he doesn’t rebound at all. It’s not that he doesn’t grab the ball once he’s in the air… it is that he doesn’t move his feet well enough like other players. He has the ratings to be a great rebounder but maybe it has something to do with other ratings.

The same happened in 2k13. I found it awkwardly difficult to rebound with Dwight.

Yeah there’s a lot of times it looks like Vucevic should grab the rebound easy…but he literally just stands there and lets it bounce past him and someone else scoops it up. I really don’t get it. He did have a good rebounding game the last game with 11, but other than that the other 20 or so games have been abysmal.

I used to modify everything myself since… nba live 1997 (I created duncan billups cato croshere and almost 50 players from this 97 draft class to keep the game updated after the draft) … but now it represent too much time (with the tendancies ratings …) and I have more work as a teacher now than when I was a student).

2K rosters are very bad in fact… ratings and potentials are too high and after 3/5 years almost every team is strong. There is not enough up and down years for unsteady players… I think 2k creators should take a look at madden for the association mode.

NBA 2k14 fixed some of the issues, Gordon Hayward is up to around a 75. After the first roster update the ratings and rosters are pretty decent. They hopefully will have the final rosters fixed faster this year since the second round picks are already made and on the teams. I just hope they update them more during the season since some guys put in work and focused on one aspect of their game or worked hard on everything. So hopefully by december the rosters should be pretty accurate. Also remember overall ratings dont really tell how good a player is, their individual attributes do.

“overall ratings dont really tell how good a player is, their individual attributes do.”

I keep hearing this one and yeah, maybe it’s true when you play a game, but when you’re playing my career or association mode cpu determines rotation and playing time basing on overall rating, so you’re going to see some mediocre players like S. Brown or T. Robinson start/getting consistent minutes while others never see the court. I’ve downloaded the first update, some ratings are fixed, but still many of them are terrible. Also overall rating is important when it comes to trade value.

I’m so disappointed with this one because they basically didn’t change anything in the game so one would expect at least rosters to be accurate. Probably they spent most of their time working for new generation consoles release, though.

On a positive note it seems they lowered potential ability for almost every player, so with some luck when you play association mode you’re not going to see at least 7-8 players with 80+ overall for every team after 4 years.
