ChewyParticipant1. Derrick Rose and Westbrook are the same rating. D Rose has the MVP year, Westbrook has been healthy the last two years. Good debate as to who is better and NBA2K just skipped picking a side!
2. Pek is the highest player on the Wolves?! Never would have thought that back when they had Love and Rubio was being talked about as the next overseas SUPERSTAR.
3. NBA2K did choose a side in the Jabari vs Wiggins debate giving Jabari the one point edge. I don’t see too many people being upset with that considering Jabari has long been considered the more ready player of the two.

ChewyParticipant1. Derrick Rose and Westbrook are the same rating. D Rose has the MVP year, Westbrook has been healthy the last two years. Good debate as to who is better and NBA2K just skipped picking a side!

NickWayne87ParticipantDrummond being a 83 and Howard being an 88……the gap between their skills is much farther than that at this point…….Howards a little low, Drummond a little high….something more like 79 or 80 for Drummond….and 91 for Howard id say…..
Melo Should be 92
K Love should be a 95
K Durant should be a 98
LeBron should be a 99
D Rose and Westbrook, no problem with them having the same rating to me they’re the same player Drose just makes better decisions but they both should be above 90. You can’t tell me Drose is an 88 if Joakim is an 87…..Joakim can stay there but Drose should be 95 ish.
Curry is okay at 89 i guess i’d put him at 90 and Klay at 85
I want to say Kobe should be higher but since I don’t know how he’s gonna return I can’t say that he should
I want to say Wade should be higher but with his shaky knees the rating is probably justified.
I’d go ahead and give Anthony Davis a 90.

CameronCrazy11ParticipantFYI I read somewhere a couple weeks ago that 2k changed there overall ratings system this year. I don’t really know any details, but I do know that the goal was to make players who are great at one thing get more credit (i.e. Kyle Korver, he regularly was rated about 65-66 in the past which greatly underrates his importance).

TenSecondTomParticipantWhile they did change the ratings system, it is a little more in depth than just giving credit to one dimensional players like Korver. For instance, they finally gave Dirk a higher rating; one that he deserves. Also, it looks like players who are well-rounded received higher ratings as well. Overall, I think they based the ratings on how the players impact a game, whether it’s through being 1D like Korver, or all-around like a Batum. As a Suns fan, I’m kind of frustrated that Dragic received the same rating as Deron Williams; I still don’t think he gets the credit he deserves. Also, Isiah Thomas at 80 if Brandon Jennings is an 80 seems questionable as well. I’m not saying Thomas should be higher, but he averaged 20 and 6, which is clearly better than what Jennings offers to a team.

machu46ParticipantThe way it’s been explained is that instead of having one overall formula for each position like in year’s past, they now have a bunch of different formulas for each position and it displays the highest overall. So for Korver, it uses a formula that focuses on ability to spread the floor, while for a guy like Batum, it uses a formula that focuses more on his all-around skillset. Pretty cool.

CynthiaParticipantNick Collison got a year older, yet gained about 12 overall rating. This isn’t the only instance on this list but probably one of the most noticeable I seen.
If they really did change their rating system (which it looks like) then I’m happy about it and I hope it balances players out a lot more. 2K always overrates a few players but I feel like they underrate waaaaay more.
Can’t wait to pick my pre-order up!

BigChamp12ParticipantMelo deserves at least a 90. I’d say around a 93 considering Lebron at 98 and Kd at 95.
Josh Smith had a very inefficient season but he is still better than an 80.
Drummond at 83 is too high too soon.
Russ Westbrook should be a 90 also. He and D Rose should not have the same rating.
Harden and Dwight Howard should both be above 88…
Bosh at 84 is disrespect. Definitely should be 86 or 87.

BigChamp12ParticipantI understand what you’re saying here. Numbers wise, the 84 rating is pretty accurate. Personally, I chose to consider things such as who they are playing with and what option they are on their team. Bosh was the 3rd option on the Heat. Milsap and gasol were easily the best players on their team and the number 1 options. Bosh could go to both of those teams and the offesne would probably run through him. All I’m saying is I didn’t just go by the numbers.

IndianaBasketballParticipantSome of these ratings makes me scratch my head…
– Kendrick Perkins is rated 74. Ha! That would suggest he’s at least an average player, which he’s far below average. He’s significantly overrated.
– The inefficient Brandon Jennings is rated an 80 lol… How’s that possible?
– Danny Granger is rated 76… Based on what?
– The new ratings are supposed to award players who play an all-around game, right? Then how is Eric Bledsoe rated 81? Only one point higher than Jennings and Isaiah Thomas?
– Andre Drummond is overrated. I could buy an 80 maybe, but an 83?
– Kobe Bryant is rated 89 and Derrick Rose is rated 88. These ratings are based on the past only, not the current.
– I like Paul Millsap, but he’s rated 85. That’s higher than Chris Bosh and Serge Ibaka, who are both rated 84. Bosh is underrated.
– Aaron Afflalo is low at 78… He was one of the better shooting guards in the NBA last season, who shoots extremely well and actually plays both sides of the floor. Kevin Martin and Eric Gordon are rated 79.
The good thing is 2K is great about adjusting ratings.

machu46ParticipantThe overall rating doesn’t reward players for an all-around game. They now have multiple overalls so for example, Jennings overall formula might favor ball-handling and athleticism or something and Bledsoe’s might favor an all-around game. I agree that Jennings is a little too high though.
Regarding Kobe and Rose, I think they’re fine. It wouldn’t really be fair to rate them based on how YOU think they’ll play when they return from injury. The last time they were healthy, they were elite players, so until proven differently, that’s how they should be rated IMO.
I agree with pretty much everything else though.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThe way I understand the new ratings system is there are different player types for each position and there’s a different formula for each player type that produces it’s own rating. NBA 2K15 will use the highest rating and the player will be listed as that type. Basically, a player’s individual skills and what he’s best at will determine what type he falls into and he’ll be assigned a rating based on that type’s formula.
The new ratings formula just places more weight/importance to specific individual ratings based on what “type” of player is being rated… For example a shot blocking rim defender might not get docked if he can’t shoot and a stretch 4 won’t get docked if he can’t block shots… Players like Kyle Korver and Tony Allen for example could theoretically have the same overall.
The more “complete” players will still have highest ratings, but now “specialists” might finally get some love.
Based on that, that’s how I don’t understand how Eric Bledsoe is only an 81. He’s still not a great shooter, but he’s a multifaceted player at both ends of the floor. I don’t see how it’s possible for Brandon Jennings to be an 80 based on any formula lol.
As far as Kobe and D. Rose, it’s up for debate. I know 2K will adjust their ratings accordingly based on their performance.
