I fully expect Abu Kigab to standout in this event. He has a real dangerous triple threat game like Joe Johnson. Just needs to shoot more consistently.

Heres some names off the top of my head I would like to see in this event.

    Antoine Davis- Detroit Mercy
    Kendric Davis- SMU
    Marcus Bingham- MSU
    Justin Bean- Utah St
    Nathan Mensah- SDSU

I think Abu Kigab will stand out too… I think Kendric Davis would decline to play in this one.

Always a good tournament to see how the second round of the draft in particular pans out. Most of the guys in the first round don’t tend to go there but in recent years some guys who have played the PIT have edged themselves into the first round most notably Jimmy Butler.

Contending teams with a late first rounder will always have a good look here if there is a complimentary guy they like the look of. Good to see it returning.

    Trevion Williams (Purdue)
    Alondes Williams (Wake Forest)

    Luka Brajkovic (Davidson)
    Kendric Davis (SMU)
    Ron Harper Jr (Rutgers)
    Justyn Mutts (Virginia Tech)
    Jeenathan Williams (Buffalo)

lots of those players are projected to decline. But it would be nice to see them all play though

Makes sense, since a few of them are likely picks as it is, but I feel like none of them are guaranteed as of right now.
I certainly don’t expect all of them to, just would be nice to see a few of those guys make it out! I’m glad the PMI is back, and I know they won’t since it’s the first year that it’s resuming but it would be cool to see it be a bit expanded just due to the fact that there’s more seniors than usual this year.

Alas, there’s still only 58 picks this year either way. But with 2 way contracts and perhaps expansion on the horizon, maybe that will come in the future.

I completely agree with your logic. It would be better if the tournament was a wee bit bigger and lots of more of the better prospects played. Intel says otherwise though. It will still be a nice event. Ochai Agbaji, Andrew Nembhard, KJ Williams, Michael DeVoe, Kendric Davis, Alondes Williams, Ron Harper Jr. , Javon Freeman-Liberty, Hunter Maldonado, Keon Ellis, Pete Nance, Drew Peterson, Colin Castleton, Trevion Williams , Gabe Brown, Kellan Grady, Will Richardson, Matthew Mayer, Collin Gillespie, Buddy Boeheim, Darius McGhee are all guys who project to decline as of now…

Hats off to the small school guys. Trevor Hudgins is the two-time DII Player of the Year and three time DII national champion. He was a 50-50-90 guy as a junior. He just missed 50-40-90 as a senior. As a 6’0″ guard, it might be hard for him to find traction, but it is still a great platform for him to start. The mystery man DIII player of the year and three-time first team All-American at that level Ryan Turrell got his slot. At 6’7″ and a career 45% 3-point shooter, it will be worth following how he does.

Malik Williams is interesting. He had a high drama season where he was suspended and back-and-forth with the team after Louisville fired Chris Mack. If a team can work through what happened, and gets the sense he won’t be more of a headache than is worth, he does look the part of a guy a team would want to work with on their G-League team. He has great size and athleticism, and a better looking stroke than his numbers show.

Michael DeVoe of Georgia Tech was named MVP after playing for winning team Sales Systems, LTD. It was an impressive crop of players. The winning team didn’t have many NBA prospects. Justin Bean had a big 24 point final and became more of an inside-out scorer at Utah State, but was a 5th year senior after a two-year Mormon mission. Gaige Prim of Missouri State played well, and is a more traditional below the rim big man. Listed at 6’8″ 235 lbs., his avenues seem limited, though he likely opened doors abroad. Michael Flowers can shoot it, but is small. Ryan Turell shot it well two of three games going 8-21 from deep. He will probably get some looks in workouts. Cole Swider had a big first game, left after 7 minutes in the 2nd, and missed the final. He should be a guy who gets a combine invite as a 6’9″ shooter.

    All-Tournament Team
    Justin Bean
    Josh Carleton
    Tyrese Martin
    Jeriah Horne
    Jared Rhoden
    Terrell Brown Jr.
    Garrison Brooks
    Charlie Moore
    Javante McCoy
    Keve Aluma
    Michael DeVoe
    Gaige Prim

Javante McCoy is a guy I never really considered. His only game against high major opponents in the past couple years came against Florida State where he put in 22 points. In Portsmouth, he averaged 18 over three games on 41% from the field. He is a 6’5″ scoring guard who shot 43% from deep. In general, the small school guys did well. Turell shot the ball well. Trevor Hudgins averaged 11 PPG and 5.7 APG on 46% from the field and 38% from three, but that 6’0″ listing seems ambitious.

I like Gaige Prim’s presence on the court. He really brings it.
