canadabasketballisrisingParticipantWith the NBA clearly being the "best" basketball league, and with FIBA Americas starting today, does anyone have an opinion which leagues rank: 3rd, 4th- ect. up to tenth or so?
I did some research and all of the best european teams belong to the Turkish Airlines Euro league (or just euro league) which spans 18 different countires all in europe, aming it the second best team in all likliehood..

Robb_CParticipantYes, You’re absolutely right the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague is the 2nd best league in the world, the league wasn’t featured in NBA 2k15 for no reason lol.

Anton123ParticipantWow, that’s some high quality research there, finding out the Euroleague is the second best league in the year. If you further continued your research, you’d also found out about the Eurocup.
In Europe every country has a league and the best teams are part of either the Euroleague or Eurocup, so national leagues and these overlap heavily.
The top 3 is certainly:
1. NBA
2. Euroleague
3. Eurocup
Then it gets harder. Basically a European legue is probably good if it has a lot of teams in the Eurolegue or Eurocup. Spain (Liga ACB), Greece (GBL), the Adriatic League (ABA), Russia (VTB United League) and Turkey (BSL) all have several teams in the league. I’m not sure how they stack up against the CBA (China), to be honest, never watched a single CBA game.
I know very little about teams outside the Euroleague, though I’ve watched some Eurocup, I’d probably rank them something like this:
4. Liga ACB
5. VTB United League
6. ABA
7. CBA
8. GBL
9. BSL
Now this is really just a bit of guessing on my part, based on very little research, I may be completely wrong on some. For example, it seems like the Greek league should be higher.

Anton123ParticipantForgot about Germany too. They must be somewhere in there as well. I just really hope someone smart comes in and makes a proper list.

Rip255The Australian League is top 5 without doubt. Theres so much NBA calibre talent.
Players love it because we have a good lifestyle, high standard of living and strong domestic talent….as seen by high NBA representation.

BubbaChuckParticipantThere are definitely some solid leagues out there. In no particular order:
* Spanish league
* Greek league
* Turkish league
* Russian league
* German league
* Italian league
* Israeli league
* French league
* Croatian league
* Chinese league
* Australian league
* Brazilian league
* NBA D-League0- Posted on: Mon, 08/31/2015 - 11:51pm #1010538
Rip255NBA D-League definitely has the greatest discrepency between talent and pay.
After NCAA of course.
In my country, the top professional sports leagues provide a lot of money to ensure the second-tier competitions are successful and there is more professional players. Look at European Football leagues….professionals in 3-4 divisions.
Why does America have the biggest difference between the highest level of sports, and the second highest level. Same reason they lock-out every CBA. GREED!

King CaluchaParticipantBefore Euroballer appears… I want to say Greece is a top 5 league in the world. I’d say also Russia and Turkey are pretty good. Speaking of single-country tournaments, clearly spanish ACB is the 2nd best after the NBA. Germany… nowhere near top 5 at the moment.

barbabodomParticipantIn South America I believe the Brazilian and Argentinian league are in the same tier and both would compare to a 2nd tier League in Europe, probably in the level of German or French league.
