IlladelphParticipantToday, a story broke that Louisvilee basketball hosted 22 basketball recruiting parties with stripper/prostitutes from 2010-2014. The prospects would visit the campus and allegedly the director of basketball operations arranged for these parties and paid for them which sometimes included paying for sexual favors with the recruits.
Rick Pitino immediately came out and said that he had no idea about these parties, and is shocked at the allegations.
What I don’t understand is if these allegations are true, in the day and age of twitter and FB, how in the heck did these parties go on for so long without anyone finding out? You’d think that at least one of the recruits would have said something, or posted something online about these parties.
And secondly, I find it unlikely that Rick Pitino had absolutely no idea that his director of basketball operations hosted sex parties for recruits 22 times without knowing a thing about them. Makes me think that either the allegations are totally false, or Pitino must have known about them and is now stonewalling.
What do you guys think?

SkalAndJamalParticipantNCAA doesn’t want to take action against any of the big time programs unless a coach publicly criticize them or the public makes a big deal out of it. It’s very much like politics, they don’t care until the name is in danger of being harmed. In this case motherf**kin book was made so they had to step up and protect the name of the NCAA and make it seem like "they don’t tolerate this kind of behavior blah blah".
and bs Pitino 10000000% knows about that. A director of basketball operations can’t even get the team new toilet paper without the head coach’s permission and if he did, he’d be fired without even a second of thought.

NBAjunkie81Participantgoes after so called "academic Fraud" – If people knew how many rich kids simply pay to have papers written for them & the NCAA will villify a poor kid from a terribly poor area usually from a broken home where the school district is a joke & the kid probably is on a 6th grade reading & math level… I don’t want to offend anyone who disagrees but I taught for many years & kids from these areas are at such a disadvantage… So what would you do if you are that assistant – do you find ways to help the kid so he can stay in school or do you say I’m sorry I can’t help you… I know it’s wrong but Life isn;t always so black & white… These kids drop out all the time b/c they feel frustrated b/c they are so far behind & as an educator is to just keep the kid in school & get them through b/c you know that if they can get thru & just graduate that diploma or college degree will change their lives… I know that I could be wrong but going back to UNLV, it seems like the NCAA goes after kids who have the biggest odds stacked against them but leave the Big programs alone… If this story is true, it is Very disappointing…

SkalAndJamalParticipantRich kids doing it doesn’t make any of this right. Get them tutors, but cheating and unrightfully getting diploma will come around and bite this kid in the butt rather in the short run or long run. Plus most bball athletes go to college to play bball they could care less about school. And if they did they would put in the work to be a legitimate student.

T RexHonestly Pitino looks like a cocaine addict. I know of another famous coach/broadcaster who was a big coke head while he was coaching. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of these coach bros did it.
But even if my TV diagnosis is wrong, Pitino is the guy who got caught banging some chick who wasn’t his wife in a restaurant after closing. The restaurant owner gave Pitino the keys and told him to lock up, and then Pitino laid her down on one of the tables.

T RexDoes this sound like a guy who didn’t know nothing?
“The woman convicted of threatening to reveal a sexual tryst with basketball coach Rick Pitino – unless he paid her millions in cash, cars and a house – has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison.
Karen Cunagin Sypher cried intermittently during the final hour of a hearing on Friday before being sentenced to 87 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Charles R. Simpson III.
He also ordered two years of supervised release after she served her prison term.
A jury convicted Sypher in August of extortion, lying to the FBI and retaliation against a witness.
The charges carried a maximum sentence of 26 years, but federal sentencing guidelines called for a shorter term.
Louisville Cardinals coach Pitino was not at the sentencing hearing.
Since being convicted, Sypher has hired new attorneys and accused the judge, prosecutors, her former attorneys and Pitino of taking part in a conspiracy to ensure she was found guilty.
Salacious details about Pitino and Sypher’s relationship – from descriptions of their one-night stand and a resulting abortion to accusations of betrayal and rape – emerged throughout the investigation and Sypher’s trial.
Pitino, a married father of five, testified during trial that he had sex with Sypher – who then was known as Karen Wise – in an empty restaurant after she whispered to him and then unzipped his pants.
Pitino said the sex lasted ’15 seconds’ and was ‘unfortunate’.
The testimony subjected Pitino to questioning from both prosecutors and defense attorneys that aired intimate details of the brief encounter and subsequent interactions between the two.
Sypher called Pitino a few weeks later and said she was pregnant.
Tim Sypher, a longtime Pitino aide and now Karen Sypher’s ex-husband, testified that he arranged for an abortion and paid for it with $3,000 Pitino had given Karen Sypher.
He testified that the two met when Pitino asked him for help after she said she was pregnant.
Pitino said he thought the money was for counseling and medical needs, but Sypher later said she had an abortion.
After being charged with extortion, Karen Sypher claimed Pitino raped her.
She filed a complaint with Louisville police, but Jefferson County Commonwealth’s Attorney David Stengel dismissed the allegations as meritless.
Two witnesses testified that Sypher traded sexual favours for help with the extortion plot.
Although Sypher never testified, jurors heard her version of events when prosecutors played a never-broadcast TV interview in which she claimed Pitino raped her.
Although some witnesses described Sypher as persistent and flirty that night, no one else testified to witnessing the sex.”

MopgrassParticipantThanks for posting this. It’s actually just an entertaining article. It shows that Pitino had a brief affair, which is bad… but this woman… wow!
To recap: she had an affair with a married man, extorted Pitino for millions, slept with people get them to help extort Pitino, lied to the FBI, retaliated against witnesses, and accused Pitino of rape after she was convicted of extortion.
You’d think she’d learn her lesson after the web of lies came undone. Nope. Then she accused Pitino, the judge, the prosecutor, and her attorney of conspiring against her. Right. It’s everyone else but you, lady.
Watch out for the damsels in distress, there’s a reason they’re in distress, and it’s probably their own fault.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantIf nothing else good comes out of it, it helps the chances for the Minnesota Gophers to keep Richard Pitino, thinking Louisville would probably like to move on from this type of drama once Rick Pitino retires.
