T-WOLF FANParticipantI think that Miami still needs to find atleast one or two big guys to play center, who is still available at the Center position that would be a good fit for Miami and would still be willing to take on a minimum paying salary?
Who else do you think the Heat should get? Or what positions do you feel that Miami still needs to fill ?
I want to hear your ideas/ opinions.0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/13/2010 - 12:01pm #353489
ChrischiParticipantI mean they got Z. I think Shaq would fit, because he played great defense last season on Dwight. Dunno if he’ll sign for such a low salary though. A Juan Howard or a Brad Miller could get some garbage minutes as well, but aren’t good enough to play more than 15min.

JoeWolf1Z is not the player he was a couple years ago. He is a great team guy and he is still 7’3” with a good jumpshot so despite his age he does have some value, but I don’t see him making a real bid difference next season. I don’t think Siler or Pittman their centers on their summer league team will be big difference makers either. Both have struggled with weight issues, and I do think Pittman can keep his weight down I have my doubts on Siler. I think Kwame Brown would be their best option. His size and defense would make them a legit contender in my opinion, but with Z and Juwan Howard, I think the Lakers would beat them in 6 games, if they could get past Orlando.

WillisWaltParticipantI’ll be rooting against the Heat, but I always thought Ilgauskas was a classy player. I wanted the Knicks to draft him. I think most of the mocks I had seen had him going to Cleveland with the 11th or 12th pick, but they picked up Potapenko, who most thought would go later. I was holding out for John Wallace, but the Knicks had 3 picks. I was also afraid they’d ddraft this high school kid named Kobe, but I was worried that that might not work out. So I was glad when he went off the board at 15 or so. I think the Knicks had 18, 19, and 21, and Ilgauskas was still there. I couldn’t believe they didn’t take him at 19. Cleveland snapped him up with #20, and we ended up with Dontae Jones, our third small forward of the draft. I read later that we wanted Walter McCarty and Ilgauskas and were afraid Cleveland would take McCarty. The only one of the four that amounted to anything was Ilgauskas. Oh, and the Kobe kid turned out OK, too.
Oh well, I’m still rooting against him, but I still have a lot of respect for him.
Good luck, Zydrunas Ilgauskas.

PlatypusParticipantThey should have signed Raja Bell instead of Mike Miller

LawDeeZeeParticipantthey need some beef in the frontcourt … last time big z tried to guard dwight, he made him look like the 2nd coming of the dream … also … a front court rotation of bosh, z, howard, and haslem gets WORKED on the glass by a team like the lakers should they meet in the playoffs

Zeke33Participantdid u just say Kwame Brown??? The number one overall draft pick with the worste hands and worste footwork in the league?? Kwame Brown? that guy?? The Heat should absolutly not sign kwame Brown. even if he said he would play for free they should not pick up Kwame Brown. he is not good at the game of basketball. He has no passion, desire, workethic, confidence, or the basketball IQ to even be on the same court as this team. Jeol Anthony is said to return or get a guy like Kurt Thomas who started his career in Miami. Even joe smith, aaron gray or matt geiger out of retirement would be better than kwame brown.

llperezthey need length down low. Z is the only 7 footer on the roster and if they face the lakers, the lakers are known for using length to overwhelm opponents.

Michael.S.ParticipantZ, Haslem, and Bosh is a solid start. Plus LeBron ad Wade crash the boards as well. They need a backup/starting point and just overall depth.

sheltwon3ParticipantKwame is actually a good defender though and with their scoring they need defense.

LawDeeZeeParticipantif they’re depending on wade and lebron to keep bynum and gasol and odom off the offensive glass … they might have a problem
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/13/2010 - 2:38pm #353568
JoeWolf1I agree with Sheltwon, Kwame is a legit defender, and lets face it with Miami’s cap they can’t afford to get anyone a whole lot better. It’s making the best of a situation where there isn’t a lot to choose from and I think you have to go with a big body who can play defense. And I said Kwame Brown to fill up a roster for the veteran minumum, not revitalize a franchise. Who would you want guarding Dwight Howard in the playoffs…Kwame Brown or Juwan Howard?? I’d take Kwame any day.

JNixonParticipantBrown is a decent defender, but he’s not “very good” to me. I think Joel Anthony would be good for them to keep. He’s very similar to Kendrick Perkins, and would be good to have around to defend other bigs. He has the disposition and build of an enforcer in the post on D too. You have Anthony and Big Z at C and you have enough size to make things hard enough for all these other teams.

GodfatherParticipantYeah, they can get O’neal to clog up the lanes like Krispy Kreme clogs the arterys. Omg, I love my motherfucking krispy kremes. So damn tasty. I’ma get me one now!!!

T-WOLF FANParticipantYes, being a worlves fan, I am pissed at David Kahn…( I don’t think I need to explain why!). I am losing faith real fast..
I agree that Miami should have signed Raja Bell, or even tried to get Barbosa instead of Mike Milller,, especially at that price.
In my opinion, Kwame Brown would be a better fit that Juwan Howard.. I know some people say Brown isn’t very good.. but atleast he’s tall and young ( so there is that small possiblity that he may get better)… and Miami already has some guys who play PF.
Brad Miller would be a better fit than Juwan Howard.

PlatypusParticipantDepth currently
Chalmers –
Wade – Miller
LBJ – Butler
Bosh – Howard – Varnado
Big Z – Pittman0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/13/2010 - 3:31pm #353608
Zeke33ParticipantHow is Kwame a great defender? hes not bad on D but not great. Joel Anthony is a MUCH MUCH MUCH better defender than Kwame. Anthony protects the basket very well and brings alot of energy off the bench. and i would rather have Jawan Howard guard dwight for sure. I watched Jawan howard guard shaq live in Portland last year and he did a great job on him. he also guarded Dwight a little whn they played orlando and he did great. Howards a good post defender. But Joel Anthony would obviously be the one i would want to gaurd Dwight first. Plus Dwight doesnt show up in the playoffs. Adding Kwame Brown to any NBA roster makes that team worse. The only thing he produces for an NBA team is the media talking about who just signed the biggest bust in NBA history. If anything he is a distraction

Zeke33Participantannnnd Miami has Udonis Haslem… why the hell do they need Kwame Brown?? I dont know if Kwame Brown could even start on my city league team

JoeWolf1Where did I use the word great? I said legit and implied he’d be a good pickup for cheap, don’t act like I said he’s the next Mutombo, because all I said is that he’s a better defender than a 35 year old Juwan Howard and the crop of free agent centers on the market. Don’t put words in my moulth.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/13/2010 - 4:01pm #353647
Zeke33Participantand im saying u can get about 10 guys better than Kwame for cheap. Jarvis Varnado is the NCAA’s all time shot block leader, Dexter Pittman is 7’0 and a wide body and they brought back Udonis Haslem, and most likely Joel Anthony with Jawan Howard, Thats plenty of depth. Varnado will give people alot of problems down low. The last thing Miami needs is Kwame Brown, They should go for Ridnour or Jason Williams and maybe Theo Ratliff for length and shot blocking. and Neither Kwame or Jawan are legit defenders…but ill take jawan Howard over Kwame Brown any day. Most your posts are good but i completely absolutly disagree with Kwame Brown. Miami doesnt need any more distractions than they already have with the big 3 now
