I’m surprised that no one had started a thread about this, but there are numerous reports that Tim Duncan’s wife has insinuated that Duncan is gay during their divorce proceedings and that an unidentified source has claimed that Duncan is bisexual and that another man lived with the Duncan’s early in their marriage.

Here’s one of many sources reporting these allegations: http://www.sportsworldnews.com/articles/3647/20130712/tim-duncan-divorce-update-does-wife-believe-spurs-star-gay.htm

I’m among those who think that a player’s sexuality is generally a non-issue and should not be major news, but man…this would certainly be a surprise if it turned out to be true.

Can it really be a big surprise when it seems like nobody knows anything about Tim Duncan as a person? lol

Obviously it will be blown up to be a big thing if he comes out as gay/bisexual, but I personally don’t care either way. He’s one of the best to ever play the game and from everything I’ve read about him, he sounds like he’s a great person off the court as well. I have a ton of respect for him no matter what.

Don’t care. He will still be my idol and favorite basketball player ever anyway. The fundamentals he has and the respect he shows to opponents drew me to him in the first place, and away from the one-man Nike commercial that is LeBron James and the Heat. Who cares if he’s boring, that makes him more like the rest of us instead of the reality shows that are most superstars in the NBA.

This is probably just a ploy by his wife to try and kill his reputation and get more money out of him. I’d normally call her a money grubbing b*tch, but this is a divorce proceeding. Anything goes.

Doubt she is lying..they’ve had an open relationship for a very long time. And I’m not surprised if he is, dude is very secretive about his life and at one point had a tongue ring. Doesn’t matter what his sexually is dude is the greatest PF of all-time!

Yea, hopefully they can just be out by the time they are in the league and nobody will bat an eye. If he is gay, I think it makes what he accomplished look a little bit more impressive to be hiding this and still be a top 5 big man of all time is pretty good and he would be the type of person who could make it easier for young guys to come out so eventually things like this wont matter at all

Now I know that this shouldn’t be a big issue… But considering the first openly gay player in the NBA was a nobody, this would be huge for the push towards openness. Even if Timmy D is just bi, it still means that even some of the very best players are out there and can be open about their sexuality and still be greatly respected by everyone. If Collins didn’t sign with a team, then we’re rejecting homosexuality in the NBA? Try cutting Tim Duncan. Not only then would it be blatant discrimination, but it would absolutely taint the reputation of the NBA. And Stern, as much as I dislike him, would not let all his hard work go to waste over something that really shouldn’t be an issue in society today.

It definitely shouldn’t be an issue but it would still be very newsworthy…much more so than Collins coming out because Duncan is a living legend and it would put a recognizable face on “the gay athlete”.

I personally think it is likely that his wife is just attempting to defame him. I have lived with a married man and his wife and I wasn’t having a sexual relationship with him. This is probably just a case of a nasty divorce getting out of control and if it isn’t I will be stunned.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that a woman that is going through a divorce would call a man gay. Also if he is that is his business. I don’t support that lifestyle but I do respect Duncan game and I don’t think his basketball skill and his career has anything to do with what his has done or is doing on the court.

If it does turn out to be true, wouldnt surprise me that much. His private life is just that, private. He’s one of the most low key superstars we’ve ever had in the NBA. Should he be gay, shouldn’t change anyone’s opinions on him, still a great player, still a great guy.

I am just going reiterate whatever on the board said so far, except for Greek Baller.

Who cares if Tim Duncan is gay, he is the BEST power forward of all time and resume in the NBA is one of the best.

I personally think his wife is trying to defame his character and hoping for a retaliation move from Duncan. I wish him all the best.

Personally, I don’t support the gay or lesbian lifestyle – Why? Because I believe that god has given us all the gift of being able to create and nurture life though the mental, spiritual, physical and sexual interaction that happens between a man and a woman

    For Example:
    1. A man and a woman fall in love through enjoyable and healthy relationship development
    2. They naturally engage in sexual interaction with one another and have children
    3. They become parents and utilize a nurturing form of love, wisdom, and protection that will hopefully help their children mature into healthy, good, and successful adults who are also beneficial and successful contributors to society.
    4. And the children who are now mature adults repeat the same cycle of creating and nurturing life through the mental, spiritual, physical, and sexual interaction they have with the opposite sex ( heterosexual interaction )

And thus, if every man decided to be gay and every woman decided to be a lesbian. Than the ability to create and nurture life would cease to exist. From that simple point of view I can now understand why the homosexual lifestyle is considered to be an abomination by god with-in biblical teachings ( abomination meaning – something that is greatly disliked )

At the same time, we live in a world where homosexuality will always exist. And thus we all have to learn how to be tolerant and respectful tours one another. Even at times when we might disagree with a small part of their lifestyle. Over the years I’ve learned how to respect, love, and accept a gay or lesbian individual. By simply challenging myself to judge individuals by their character, values, personality, and overall respect they have for themselves and others.

I will never agree with the homosexual lifestyle, but that won’t prevent me from challenging myself to love, accept, and respect others. I’ll simply let god judge and decide if an homosexual individual is worthy of entering the kingdom of heaven.

Dude, this is worse than your redundant scouting reports where you say the same thing 4 times in different verbage.

      1. Putting a number in front of your opinion doesn’t make it a fact.
      2. Wording the same thing differently doesn’t make it a new bullet point.
      3. Biblically shellfish are an abomination.
      4. Everyone has different opinions, and I can’t prove mine is right and yours is wrong so why treat it like a declaration of Nate Wolters becoming the greatest PG and lottery pick of the 2013 draft class?

Calm down young man, JoeWolf1 it’s just an opinion and my personal view on what I think about homosexuality and on how I choose to deal with individuals who live an homosexual lifestyle. Based on the knowledge I have gained from studying biblical principles. It’s ok if you disagree, I could care less. I have personally lived with a gay man when I was 13 years old who tried to commit suicide in my mother’s home because he contracted the aids virus. And I came to the conclusion at a young age that I would challenge myself to accept and respect gays and lesbians even if I disagree with the homosexual lifestyle. A choice that was made with the help of studying biblical principles. The bible teaches on many occasions how we should love the person but also hate immoral and unrighteous actions. And that’s how I choose to think and express myself. A way of thinking and a way of living that has helped me become a better person and a better christian

You sound very foolish by thinking that I wrote a scouting report on a very sensitive and controversial topic of discussion. It was an opinion. based on biblical understanding that I have gained. So it’s ok if you disagree. Because homosexual issues will always cause many disagreements. Especially between secular and religious individuals.

Also to get on your nerves a little bit. It looks like ben meclemore is on his way to being a big time bust based on the way he played in the summer league. All of the weaknesses I listed about ben in past post were on full display in the summer league (LOL!)

I’m still not very impressed with the overall skill level of Ben Mclemore – Why?
            1. He really is just a good spot-up shooter who can use his athleticism to be a dynamic finisher in the open court with-in fastbreak offensive opportunities
            2. His ability to create space on the perimeter with his offensive footwork ( jabsteps, pumpfakes, stepbacks, 1 to 2 dribble pull-up jumpshot, stepfakes, etc ) is just average
            3. His shot creating instincts off the dribble is average
4.His ability to create offense for himself against tough defense is just average
            5. If he is not making his jumpshot, he starts to become a average and inefficient scorer who really doesn’t have the all-around offensive skill set that will help him score in a variety of ways
            6. At times he struggles finishing around the rim against size, length, contact, and athleticism
            7. He doesn’t operate efficiently in traffic as a scorer, ball-handler, or finisher
            8. To me he will be a solid pro who impacts the game with his spot-up shooting skills, dynamic athleticism in the open court, and solid defensive skills

NBA Comparison: Courtney Lee / Wesley Johnson

I’m just playing JoeWolf1, because I think ben will ultimately develop in to a solid role player in the NBA, but definitely nothing special!!!

Come on man! Get with the program! I mean, didn’t you know?!?! It’s completely okay for those to state opinions why they DO agree with a homosexual lifestyle, but it’s not okay for those to respectfully state their opinions why they don’t lol.

Seriously though… Smh @ the hypocrisy.

I didn’t have a problem with anything you said nor did I find it disrespectful, etc. IF anything, if the world had more people like you, who love and accept those that are homosexuals despite not agreeing with the lifestyle, things would be a lot better.

No problem if he is or not.But that Jason Collins stuff got way overblown…that guy was basically retiring, not by choice but skills,a free agent nobody was going to sign, and he found a way to get attention post nba.Im sure what he did is hard, but there are plenty of athletes who have come out after playing their last game, whether they came out 5 min after the last game or 3months is basically same thing. And i dont see why he got more attention than the others before him.
Now if this man came out now,he’d have my full respect. The young gay guys in the league in the closet wouldnt think they would have to wait until they retire to be real with themselves, and Tim would be worthy of all the attention and way more that Collins got. With that said, whether he is or not,is honnestly nobody’s business.Unless he has sex with 10 year olds i could care less what happens in his,or any nba player’s bedroom

Lots of people can be bisexual and often even more people will have experimented with their sexuality in their formative years. If the Duncan’s had an open relationship then this could well have been the case.

Personally I think that Tim Duncan’s sexuality is his own business and if a major player did come out as openly gay or bisexual it would be a big story but it does not affect that players achievements or standing in the game.

The Earth is running out of it’s natural resources at an alarming rate while the population has exceeded the Earths threshold’. Homosexuality is natures response to slow down overpopulation. And from a guys perspective it’s less competition when dealing with women.

You are right, this shouldn’t be news. It is just sad that racial and sexuality issues always receive the most responses on a basketball forum. I swear some days when I wake up and hear what the world has to say, I think my bed is a time machine that takes me back to days of old. Human Beings come in all different shapes and sizes. Oh, and colors too. All thanks to a wonderful thing called natural selection. Do those traits that evolved differently over many years based on environment make one person better than other? At some things, yes. In general and taken to the extend that white males have throughout the existence of mankind? An emphatic NO! Also, BREAKING: 20 to 30 percent of the human population is homosexual. Can we please move on?

If this is true, Duncan is still my favourite player of all-time.

That being said, when reports first came out it sounded like the divorce is pretty nasty. Apparently Duncan wants the pre-nup (which reports say is pretty iron-clad) upheld and as you can imagine his ex-wife will go from a life of luxury to one of just privilege. This wouldn’t be the first time lies have been told during a divorce to help one parties case.

Amy is likely saying he is gay/bisexual to give cause for her (reported) infidelity and so she has a better chance at a large financial settlement.

im all for allowing gay marriages and don’t have a problem with gay people. I personally think its gross as hell, but my opinion shouldn’t have any impact on another persons life and what they do in their own home. Besides, there are countless examples of man/woman marriages that have straight up destroyed any "sanctity of marriage" talk as is. Its like domestic violence, high divorce rates, cheating, and just all around crappy marriages are going on all around us but its the man and man stuff that will destroy the "sanctity" of marriage?
