druneave3ParticipantIf you were a General Manager, what would your Top 5 at each position be? In other words, if the NBA started over today with a Fantasy Draft, with everything you know up to this point, what would your big board be for each position? So not really factoring in current talent and ability, but more so, age, potential, the future, and building your franchise to be a title contender for years to come.
Point Guard
1. Derrick Rose
2. Kyrie Irving
3. Damian Lillard
4. Steph Curry
5. Jrue HolidayShooting Guard
1. Paul George
2. James Harden
3. Klay Thompson
4. Jimmy Butler
5. Victor OladipoSmall Forwards
1. LeBron James
2. Kevin Durant
3. Harrison Barnes
4. Kawhi Leonard
5. Danilo GallinariPower Forwards
1. Anthony Davis
2. Derrick Favors
3. Kevin Love
4. Blake Griffin (not a fan but obviously talented, hopefully D and team play will improve)
5. Greg MonroeCenters
1. DeMarcus Cousins
2. Andre Drummond (too much upside on the first two players to pass on, think they both might bust though, still taking that risk)
3. Jonas Valancuinas
4. Alex Len
5. Enes Kanter0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/11/2013 - 1:55pm #832647
ProudGrandpaParticipantI feel like Kobe would still be a Top 5 shooting guard. It’s not a deep position and he will certainly help your team be good right away. Would I take Jimmy Butler with a first round pick? No. Would I take Kobe with a first round pick, maybe a 25-30 overall pick? Yeah, I probably would.

TheTorontoRaptorParticipantThis may be your opinion and I respect it but here is what i think is wrong with this list.
PG) You don’t even have Russel Westbrook or Chris Paul in your top PG’s list.
SG) Jimmy Butler and Oladipo are way too high for people who have barely made a big impact in the NBA. DeRozan, OJ Mayo and Wesley Matthews would be better choices for last two.
SF) No Carmelo
Id put Rudy Gay or Nicholas Batum somewhere in there instead of harrison barnes kawhi and danilo.
PF) Anthony Davis and Favors are too high.
No Lamarcus Aldridge
C) Dwight Howard? Al Jefferson? Brook Lopez? Gasol?
Drummond, Valanciunas and Kanter I think will eventually make a list like this but way to early to put them as top 5 centers in a fantasy pool.

MikezParticipantthere is nothing wrong with his list, like you said its HIS list.

druneave3ParticipantI should have just said rank players under age 25. Not a popular opinion but for my franchise I would take those PG’s over Russel Westbrook.
I wouldn’t want to deal with everything that is Dwight Howard. Would rather focus on winning and wouldn’t want that diva, even though I rank Cousins #1. I like Batum but love Barnes, Leonard, Gallo, and think they would help my franchise be closer to winning a title.
I wish other people would give me their rankings instead of telling me how crazy my opinions are.

jmarg25ParticipantLook, Jimmy Butler is a solid player, but not on a fantasy team. I doubt he ever scores more than 15 points per game. The good things he does don’t show up on a stat sheet. I would have Wade, Derozan, Monta Ellis, and even JR Smith ahead of him, and I could list more.

druneave3ParticipantIs your franchise trying to win championships or “show up on stat sheets?” Have fun with DeRozan, Ellis, and JR, I’ll take Butler D’ing those guys up, being a team player, making the right play, and trying to win games.
Not a “fantasy” league.

jmarg25ParticipantThen make sure you do not make the title of your post “NBA Fantasy Draft”. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

druneave3ParticipantI know those first 3 sentences in my post were quite long, but if you read them, you should realize the main point of the thread.
People most likely saw the word “fantasy” and said. “hey I know what that is, I have several fantasy basketball leagues.”

LipstickParticipantJudging from the title, I actually thought this meant fantasy basketball instead of, like, actual basketball. It’s probably a good idea to clear up any confusion since there’s a huge difference between the two.
Anyway, I’d put Russell Westbrook ahead of Jrue Holiday. Westbrook turns 25 in November, so he has plenty of basketball left. I wouldn’t take Chris Paul either though, simply because his body is older than it looks.
There’s a ton of blue chippers throughout the league, though. It’s understandable to miss a few when making a list like yours, like what about Larry Sanders at center?

druneave3ParticipantI read the title of 50 Shades of Grey and thought I was getting a book on the visible spectrum.
The first 3 sentences in my title, if you read it, should clear up the confusion.

fennisdemboParticipantHow is paul george ranked at sg?
Do you watch the games? Stephenson and Hill started all year at guard spots.
When it comes to positions its about defense, who you guard.
I like the concept of drafting a team now from scratch but too much weight is put on

JoeWolf1Alex Len before Dwight Howard? This is getting absurd, people should remember this stuff when he drops a 20/14/2.5 season this year.
