FastAndFuriousParticipant1. Derrick Rose
2.Rajon Rondo
3.Leandro Barbosa
4.T.J Ford
5.Lebron James0 - Posted on: Sat, 10/10/2009 - 5:34pm #220583
MagikKnickParticipantWhen you add “quickness” to it, I think Lebron James drops out of the discussion..
and i think Devin Harris should be top 3

FastAndFuriousParticipantLebron’s First Step Is Ridiculous, that’s why I included him in this category.
And to even take it a step further Rookie’s Jeff Teague and Rodrigue Beaubois, are in that elite class as well.
I do agree Devin Harris is quick but his quickness never jumped out at me, it’s obvious he’s quick but his quickness has never made me say WOW.

IndianaBasketballParticipant1. TJ Ford – The fastest and quickest player in the NBA hands down.
THEN… In no particular order:
Derrick Rose – Not as fast as Ford, but equally quick.
Devin Harris – See Rose
Jared Bayless – See Rose
Monta Ellis – He was arguably equal to or greater than Ford before the ankle injury. I think he’s still just as quick, just not as fast.
LeAndro Barbosa – The closest to Ford in speed. He’s slightly faster than Rose, Harris, Bayless and Ellis, but they’re slightly quicker than him.0 - Posted on: Sat, 10/10/2009 - 10:25pm #220610
lalailaParticipant1.D.Rose he is amazing

thunderforthewinParticipantwhat is the actual defintion between fastest and quickest, like is it to with top speed/acceleration
0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/11/2009 - 3:00am #220629
meisi4Participantmy #1 player is rose i think he has amazing speed and quickness but there are many quick players in the league so it´s difficult to say who´s #1…
i wouldn´t include lebron if were talking about absolute quickness and speed…
okay if we talk about quickness in relation to size and weight then lebron is definatly number one for the next 10 years…0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/11/2009 - 7:07am #220657
whiteflashParticipantJames is pound-for-pound the fastest guy in the league, but he’s not top 5 when you take everything into acount.
Speed-
Pure speed TJ Ford is the fastest guy in the league, and it’s not even close.
Devin Harris is fast baseline to baseline, but he’s definitely more fast than quick.
Rose is fast
Barbosa is pretty damn fast end to end
Brandon Jennings now that I think about it will be up there with Ford, just gotta see him in the regular season before puting him in contentionQuickness-
Iverson is till top 5 in the league in quickness, and in his prime was the quickest and maybe the fastest player of all-time.
Jerryd Bayless’ first step is bananas. In all seriousness he might have the best first step in the league right now.
Rose has great quickness, but he’s more fast than quick.
Tony Parker is exceptionally quick
Gonna put Brandon Jennings here as well. That kid is an end to end burner and quick as anyone. After this season he’ll prove to be at or near the top in both categories.Someone like Monta Ellis’ speed/quickness are overrated ’cause he leaks out on the break and gets a lot of “head start” breakaways. He’s more a product of GS’ system and snow-birding than blinding speed/quickness. LeBron is somewhat similar, and he also gets the benefit of being able to take 2 or 3 extra steps without dribbling the ball. TJ Ford’s quickness is good, but nowhere near his straight line speed. He’s way better North-South than he is East-West if that makes any sense.

LDB15Participantdevin harris has to be top 5 with out doubt he got the world record for dribbling down the court, i know noone was in front of him but still he done it in like 3. something seconds, hes quick!

nateoak10ParticipantEveryone has forgot about him since he missed alot of last year
0- Posted on: Sun, 10/11/2009 - 8:16am #220670
whiteflashParticipantI’ve already explained why Ellis appears faster than he is. As a matter of fact he tested as the worst overall athlete at the pre draft combine. He snow birds and leaks out a lot which gives him a huge head start.

IndianaBasketballParticipantShhh… Ellis was injured and not 100% during the pre-draft combine, so throw those stats out of the window. It’s common sense that those numbers aren’t a true indicator of his athleticism. Ellis has elite speed and quickness.
0- Posted on: Sun, 10/11/2009 - 8:43am #220681
whiteflashParticipantUh, no. His speed and quickness are not on an elite level. Watch a warriors game. He has a good first step but gets cut off quite a bit and then hits defenders with a spin move or a stutter step to get away. He gets dunks ’cause he has long arms and big hands, and gets out on the break ’cause he snow birds like a motherfucker. I can pretty much guarantee if [and when with the way he’s acting] his #’s, particularly his fastbreak points will go way down.

lalailaParticipantMonta Ellis not an elite athlete? LOL 🙂

whiteflashParticipantAlso, Lou Williams is probably somewhere on both those lists, he just settles for too many jumpers.

FastAndFuriousParticipantIf You Want To Break It Down…….
Quickness………..In All Honesty: Quickness-First Step, Crossover’s, and Agility,Explosivness.
1.Derrick Rose-6’3 Excellent First Step, Very Explosive, and His Crossover’s Are Very Quick
2.Lebron James- Best First Step In The League,LONG AND EXPLOSIVE and on top of that he’s 6’8
3.Tony Parker
4.Rajon Rondo
5.Aaron Brooks.Speed………. Simpily: From End To End With The Ball.
1.TJ Ford
2.Derrick Rose
3.Lebron James
4.Rajon Rondo
5.Leandro Barbosa0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/11/2009 - 10:15am #220693
butidonthavemoneyEllis was hungover at the pre-draft combine. So if that’s what you mean by not 100% then you’re right. He tested out as the worst overall athlete because of that and the fact his was about as strong as SpongeBob SquarePants…
0- Posted on: Sun, 10/11/2009 - 12:16pm #220747
whiteflashParticipantYeah, an 18 year old with millions of dollars on the line went to his testing hungover. What the fuck is wrong with you? Someone else said he was injured and now your silly ass is saying he was hungover. Do ya’ll really think his agent and/or family would let him do that? He wasn’t injured and he surely wasn’t hungover. THE FACTS ARE HE’S NOT THAT ATHLETIC. He’s good with the ball and has really long arms and huge hands, and he changes direction well and can stop on a dime. In terms of pure speed and leaping ability his system and the fact that he’s always jumping into the passing lane allows to appear more athletic than he is. Once he gets to another team or Nellie jumps ship you’ll see his #’s take a huge dive.

butidonthavemoneyEllis reportedly refused to work out for a couple of teams drafting in the late first round, citing that he had a promise already from another team. He then allegedly came in hung over to the combines at the pre-draft camp and narrowly edged out Luke Schenscher to save himself from ending up as the worst athlete in Chicago.

butidonthavemoney[Ellis] has really long arms
-whiteflash
Did a little more research… Turns out Monta Ellis has a very short wingspan. It was measured at 6’2.75″.
He was also one of the slowest people in his draft class. Andrew Bogut would beat him in a race according to the numbers.
He was hungover.
Chyaaaaa BURNT!!!!!!!!!
