I think its Lebron James.

I’m going with LeBron James too. Not sure if he’ll be the better peak player or not. I do think LeBron’s longevity we know he has now gives him a slight up-tic along with his ability to play 5 positions throughout time to what Wemby won’t do. I think if any prospect is possibly better than LeBron though, it’s Wemby. His impact could be just as great. But LeBron we know is the hyped up prospect of the century that backed it up. Maybe he’s not Jordan or even Bird. But maybe he is – he’s in the conversation at least. Wemby’s only set back is longevity or maybe the unknown of injury factor. Otherwise, they’re both franchise turning prospects going into the league for sure. It wouldn’t surprise me if Wemby was the best player ever when it’s all said and done. But we also said the same as LeBron when he declared. It also wouldn’t surprise me if Wemby was on a Garnett level either. Depends on how his career irons out. Not a bad floor though if you ask me.

To be more clear I’m, asking if Wemby is a better prospect than Lebron was on both their draft days. Disregarding Lebron’s entire pro career. Who would you pick.

As a prospect, I thought he could possibly be the best ever candidate that can play all 5 positions. His build gave me insight he could last about 20 years in the league. Wemby’s to me is more like 15 years, but you never know. My answer’s still the same.

The only way I could judge this totally fairly is to consider them at the relative same age which would be a year into LBJ’s NBA career. If it was when they were both draft eligible I’d take Wemby first but I think LBJ’s rookie NBA year exceeded what Wemby has done in France this season just gone.

Vic would have more of a case as the best prospect ever if we had any track record of a player his size staying healthy for 10+ seasons. Before the 80s basically every championship team was built around a center, and Vic is probably going to be the best defender in the league by his third season or so. The current NBA is very favorable for offense, zagging and having the best defense is a reasonable way to stay in consistent contention even as his teammate quality varies.

Centres were still the go to draft option well into the 2000’s and I think the game is now about 3 point shooting if anything although a dominant player like a young Shaq would still have been drafted first or very high as he could get up the court well in his younger days.

Also the D’Antoni offence made the faster paced game an option and teams have used a variation on this as well as going smallball more often.

As players got drafted at different ages its hard to say who was the best prospect ever.
