McDunkinKind of a different topic.
After years of hearing how long my arms are before playing ball today my friends and I measured our wingspans and heights I turned out to be 6’3" with a (i was shocked to find out) 6’10" wingspan.
How about you guys?

LerinErinParticipantI am only 5 9 and have short arms.. come from a tall family though… My ex wife is a 5 foot tall Chinese but for some reason my 14 year old daughter is 5 8 with huge feet and very long arms. I wont be surprised if she ends up over 6 feet tall. My 12 year old son looks like he will be no taller than me…. Bottom line I have no idea how heredity factors in height etc.

Our center was 6 foot 10, our PF was a skinny 6 foot 11 dude, our small forward was 6 foot 6 with a 7 foot 5 armspan (Kenyan Masai) our Pg was 6 foot 1. We were the third best highschool team in Kenya, and 4 of our players got selected to the nba without borders sprite slam camp in Kenya featuring Kenya’s 200 finest U19. I got selected for the allstar team but didn’t get selected for NBA without borders in South Africa last year. The guy who did never scored on me though 😛

TomShoeParticipantIs everybody in this forum a giant? Sheesh.
Height: 5’8"
Wingspan 5’9"
My arms have usually been short due to having long legs and a short torso. When I play, I’m usually just like my My Player on NBA 2k12. I can shoot the 3 and some midrange. I’m a good pass first PG, if my teammates know how to cut to the basket and not just stand around. I have enough "speed" to get in the lane, but when I enter the land of the giants, either:
1. Some guy hacks at the ball and hits me in the face, or
2. My weak layup gets blasted into the next court.
So I really have to rely on my jump shot, or hope #1 happens when I drive I’m an OK foul shooter. When I’m cold, it’s not a pretty thing to watch.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/07/2012 - 12:48am #712605
McDunkinI was shocked because i didnt think it would come out that long maybe in the 6’6" or 6’7" area but to be honest it might be mostly from my shoulders they are pretty broad and are about a inch to half an inch from being as wide as most doorways.
Ive played the same way almost my whole life. A undersized c/pf that can rebound, block shots, pass the ball and score with my back to the basket with moves I promise you I learned from College Hoops 2k5…Not to brag because if im 12 feet or further im not even thinking of shooting
Sad thing is I had knee surgery…1 of 3 in my life… pretty young (sometime in elementary school) from what was simply explained as me growing too fast. My doctor told me and my parents I should grow to atleast 6’10"…but that never happened and yet my feet grew to size 17/18.
So I would compare myself to a poor mans…maybe a 3rd world country homeless mans level poor…charles barkley…but with clown feet
0- Posted on: Fri, 09/07/2012 - 7:25am #712679
no skillsParticipantman i feel bad for you having such big feet… how on earth do you find shoes? i know its super hard for me to find size 14, i would think finding size 17/18 would be near impossible!
0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/07/2012 - 8:03am #712687
omphalosParticipantWas the surgery for something called Osgood-Schlatter’s Disease? I had a similar problem where I grew too fast too quickly, it didn’t require surgery, but I had to sit out a year to avoid that happening, and it was the start of numerous lower body injuries. I was also supposed to be taller than I ended up being… the human body can be cruel sometimes, but hey, at least you’ve got the massive wingspan.

I got measured today at school, i have the longest arms in my school teams history, but i live in Australia so its not much of an accomplishment :c Im only 15 though, and my growth plates still open, doctor says i could grow anywhere between 6’10"- 7’1"
I play wing, im really lanky, but i have pretty good athleticism, but I’m kind of a Kevin Durant sort of 6’10". I shoot the piss out of it, and i get 30 points a game in the crappy Australian highschool leagues. Played against Ben Simmons once, he is a freaking beast. I had to get out of the lane while he dunked on us all game. That kid is ridiculous.

mikeyvthedonParticipantHeight: 5-9

At least the last time I measured. Considering my age, I doubt I am getting taller. Considering my genes, am lucky to be as tall as I am. My younger brother is at least 3 inches shorter than I am, as are my parents. Still, we have some tall people on this board. Not to mention some albatross wingspans, prototype 2G size and than some with a few.
The one kind of cool thing I can do is palm a basketball pretty well (with my shooting hand at least, and decently with my non-shooting). Never had my hands measured, they are not huge, but are pretty strong and that is not a terrible thing to be able to do.

JoeWolf1I’m 6’2” with a 6’3” wingspan and around 175 lbs.
I look like I weigh more than I do because I have broad shoulders, but my waist and torso are really small. I’m a lot stronger than I look and play a really physical style or basketball despite not being that big. I’m a sub par ball handler so I get a lot of buckets in the post, facing up and in the high post shooting 10-15 footers when people don’t close out. I shoot hook shots a lot and people, always laugh, until they realize I make about 75% of them and they are very hard to block.

When i was growing up i was on the martial arts (on my 17 won the national championship on 165pounds, still doesnt says much Cyprus is really small country, less than 1mil of population). Not really skilled, i was more like C, with some decent athleticism and toughness. I could dunk that that was pretty much the only way to score, no shooting skills at all.
On my 25 i had a serious injury on my back and that pretty much end my athletic career. Now i am mostly on bycicle and running behind my 2.5 son. He is already 40p, and 3’4feet, so maybe can be better than me…i can dream dont i?

Big OJParticipantI’m 18 and I’m 6’4 and 169 pounds but my wingspan is 6’6.5 I don’t know if that’s good or not but I do think I’m gonna get bigger I just graduated high school but in my freshman year I was only 5’4 134 pounds so I literally grew a foot in high school. The crappy thing is that I have scoliosis in my back because I tried to dead lift 420 pounds my junior year when I was about 6’1 178 pounds and I messed my back up pretty bad and got a herniated disk in my lower back and also creating mild scoliosis but that’s not the worst part…after that I was playing basketball wit my friend Terrence and he’s huge (6’8 295 pounds) and he messed my back up even worse when he bumped into me going up for a rebound in the gym. So then I couldn’t play ball for the season my senior year. To make a sad story even worse my ex girlfriend gave me mono then I go the stomach flu and lost a total of 29 pounds (8 pounds in muscle) since all this I have been struggling to gain weight back and doing everything I could while wearing a back brace as much as I could when I slept. Now I’m to the weight of 169 but I’m just not the same guy I was athletically or strength wise only thing is I’m taller. Not to mention my vertical used to be 34.5 now it’s a sorry 25. Now I’m gonna go to CSU Stanislaus but I really doubt basketball will be in my future now.

Big OJParticipantI forgot to mention I have played baseball my entire life ( I play short stop, pitcher and outfield) I throw 88 mph from the mound and 85 from the outfield and have only been playing basketball since 7th grade. I also wanted to state that my shoe size is 13 and my hands are 9" by 12" and I only have a 6 pack and I have 6% body fat and I run a 6.9 60 yard dash (for baseball) and I’m not just an all around athlete but I’m above average or very good at every sport I play including baseball, basketball, diving, swimming, ping pong, golf, bowling, pool, Raquetball, track and field-hurdles and long jump, snowboarding and tennis. I also can do handstands somewhat snnd I can do 27 pull ups in a row and leg press 495 lbs 10 times.

EastifigParticipantI’m 6’2 and I weigh 151lbs I have a size 11.5 foot and a 6’5 wingspan. I go to a class A prep school and play varsity. I would say that I am more of a perimeter shooter as far as offense goes and defense has always been what I was good at. I always played 4 or 5 and I get it for defense but I play more like a shooting guard and now I am a SG for varsity and my job is bassically to sit in the corner and take catch and shoot threes. Haven’t missed one from the corner in a scrimmage yet in practice and I take a good amount! I’m 17 and I stopped growing for a little while but I grew an inch in the last couple months so there is still hope. My extended family on both sides is very tall and my mom is around 5’9 and my dad was like 5’10 but he shrunk ig his spine compressed or something idk. I also have a younger brother who is 14 and he has grown 2 full shoe sizes and 4 inches in the last year and he is an amazing basketball player atm. I hope he can grow more because if he can be competitive in highschool I genuinely think he can maybe one day play at a college level. I just worry about his work ethic sometimes!

MICHAel RamseyParticipantMy height is 5’10 with a 6’7 wingspan because I have 7 inch hands. I am only fourteen and i play post because I have a 300 bench press.
