If you are like me than you are having trouble figuring out where Kyle Anderson should go on your mock draft.  He is a unique talent and possess alot of gifts that cannot be matched for a player of his size, specifically ballhandling and passing.  But because of his slow feet I am not sure if he can play PG athe pace of the NBA.  With that being said if he plays beside a ball dominant PG like westbrook or Rondo that alot of the gifts that made him successful in college are not utilized.  So my question is where is the best fit for Kyle Anderson, position and team?

If he is a SG than playing alongside scoring or defensive guards like Brandon Knight in Milwaukee or Patrick Beverly in Houston makes sense.

If he is a PG than he would be a great fit in Chicago as insurance to an injured Rose or as a nice compliment to a healthy Rose.  If Phil Jackson turns the Knicks into a triangle offense than he would be a good fit in that offense.  Maybe even Indy could use him and get rid of George Hill and have Paul George and Kyle initiate the offense.

If he is a small forward then he works as a point forward for Orlando where Oladipo and Kyle do the primary ball handling maybe even a similar role in Detroit or Minnesota.

Who is Kyle Anderson and more importantly who will he be in the NBA because any NBA team that drafts or trades into the draft for him has to really sure he fits the team offensively to get return on their investment.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t Saric have a similar size and skill-set? I still think he’s going to bust, hard, scouts are wildly overrating him.

Anderson is bigger than Saric.  Similar height, but Anderson has really long arms, while Saric has T-Rex arms, so Anderson has an above-average reach for a PF, while Saric has the reach of a SF.

Skill-wise, they are similar, but with very different styles of play.  Saric is probably the better outside shooter, but Anderson has better body control and is better at scoring inside the arc as a result.  Saric doesn’t have very good touch around the rim from what I have seen and doesn’t have a lot of confidence as a finisher.

I think both Saric and Anderson will be solid NBA players, but I think Anderson will be superior, as he is bigger and more skilled.

Saric slashes a lot. He doesn’t play back to the basket and I haven’t seen him do much midrange game, but he can finish at the rim.

He doesn’t get many touches as the ball handler in pick and roll situations. He usually cuts to the key and dishes or… he goes high-low if penetration is not possible; which is something not often seen in international basketball. Also, Saric excels in the open court, because he’s very fast. I don’t think he will be a primary ball handler in the NBA (so he’s not a point forward), but he definitely is a great passer.

Although he’s 6’9 he doesn’t do any one thing that will make him stand out in the NBA. I think he can stick in the league for a while as a seventh or eight man but I don’t know if that’s worth the ninth pick in a draft that’s so deep.

lol…Kyle might not be the quickest ,the best defender nor the most athletic..But he displays some strong traits that will allow him to be a positive contributor where ever he lands..He is a great rebounder, has the highest basketball iq,best court vision and best playmaking skills out of everyone in this draft….

People knock his defense, but he does a great job of playing the passing lane and he gets back to help protect the rim..I cant wait to watch him play with better players….

And he’s going to measure out even better than his last measurements in 2012. Probably 7’3 wingspan and 9’1 standing reach.

I was about to start a Saric Vs Anderson thread.

Saric has a better motor, which goes a long way, and motivates teammates. Saric is more athletic, a bit taller, and has more experience in the post.

Anderson has a slightly stronger frame, and much better length.

I think their shooting is pretty similar.

Anderson’s slight strength and big length advantage,

Vs Saric’s toughness, motor, and athleticism advantages

I still can’t separate them and can make arguments for each.

They could both easily end up #1 scoring options, in addition to racking up the rebounds and assists and steals. I put both of them right there with Aaron Gordon, all of whom I’d rather draft than Randle or Vonleh.

    Embiid, Wiggins, Exum

    Smart, Saric, Anderson, Gordon, Nurkic

    Randle Vonleh

I hope the Pistons pick him up.  I would love to see a front court of Drummond, Monroe and Anderson.  With this would be the hope of moving Josh Smith or telling him he is a sixth man.

Anderson in the lineup with mitigate some of the issues that come with playing Brandon Jennings.  Plug in a reliable 3 point three at the 2 and that is a pretty good looking team that can move the ball and put a lot of length on the floor.

They are fairly similar in skill-set. I have no doubts that Saric will be picked ahead of him; he’s more experienced, plays with a higher motor, and his game (shooting form, rebounding tenacity, versatility) seems like it will have a better chance to translate. I like the way both of them play, but Saric is really in the zone as of late and I’m sure GM’s are taking note. I have Anderson at 14 for Phoenix. I think he can go anywhere from like 9-17.

If I would chose one, I’d pick Saric over Anderson. I feel like hes a beast in the open court and finding teammates and scoring for himself. Anderson shot a great % from 3 this year so I will give him the knock there. But both guys arn’t players you could just throw on any team I fell like Anderson has to be build around or handed the keys too. Saric on the other hand has dominated his league compititon over in Europe. Both guys seem like gm either hate them or love them. Private workouts are going to be key.

I love how people just spurn him because of his athleticism, as if athleticism is the only pre-requisite to be good at basketball.  He’s 6’9" with PG skills, and overall very skilled.  There’s almost zero chance he rots away on the bench.  He will contribute for some team, and I think he’ll play well.

Agreed. He gets in the lane as much as any point guard prospect this class, and his above average height lets him find open shooters. He’s a very good rebounder, and knows how to use his size, length and strength to box out well. He can shoot over most SF’s virtually all guards at the NBA level. He’s got a lot to like, and has made his teammates better everywhere he’s gone. I love him as a player.

I think Anderson WILL find a place in the league with the overabundance of small SG’s that are being thrust into a PG/Scoring Guard role.  He would match up well next to guys that are really the size of a PG height wise but aren’t really distributors.  They can play off the ball and have Anderson handle the ball, especially to start on the 2nd unit where many of the small in stature "scoring off the bench" undersized SG’s find themselves.  On defense, Anderson will have to try and improve his lateral quickness but his height and length will allow him to try and cover the wing position and allow the undersized SG’s to slide over and cover the opposing PG.  DJ Augustin was a good example for the Bulls this year.  The scoring challenged Bulls needed to put DJ in the game in order to score over 60, but he couldn’t guard taller guards.  But, he didn’t fit the bill of a traditional PG and would oftentimes leave the Bulls exposed defensively.  Allowing him to slide over the wing would have been much more helpful, and a guy like Anderson would fit well guarding the taller guard of the opposition and also bringing up the ball.

Also, in a triangle offense (wish the Knicks had a pick) a tall lead guard is a premium.  He would be a great fit in that type of system.

Even if Anderson is not quick enough to guard PG’s, there are already a few PG’s in the league who cannot guard opposing point guards (Jennings, Calderon, Isaiah Thomas to name three). This hasn’t stopped any of them from forging a respectable NBA career. I think he’ll be fine provided he goes to the right team.

First of all I think both are PFs.. neither are quick enough to defend smalls and both the best they do on D are to rebound..

secondly Kyle moves his body and overally is quite a legit athletie IF he is a 4..

what’s next..hmm they both seemed to be inconsistent, but had great seasons shooting the ball..

both passes great, but Anderson has to be on higher level, I mean even as a PG he was elite in college (Ennis, Smart wasn’t even close in passing numbers)

as a scorer I can see better mentality and ability to create from Saric..but with the length and arguably even more versatility Anderson looks better prospect if you make your own scouting report without listening to others..

but I agree because of the competition where he belong greatly and the way he dominated his age FIBA championship it’s still feels Saric has better stock..just Kyle has more bust/ more steal potential at the same time

I think you’re right about him playing some 4.  He’s athletic enough to guard those guys on the perimeter, and very few have strong post games anymore.  On the offensive end I could see him playing the high post and running the offense through him.

I don’t understand how people think Kyle Anderson is a PG, it’s unbelievable. He’s one of the slowest Wing/Guard players I’ve ever seen and he’s 6’9. When was the last time we had a 6’9 PG in the league? Magic Johnson, and as much as I love Kyle Anderson’s game, he damn sure doesn’t have the ability to be a legit PG in the league. He’s going to be a SF maybe PF who can do run the point on occasionally possessions but to think he is going to be labelled a PG in the league is ludacris.
