Hey yall, I’ve been debating with my friends for quite a while now as to who is the league’s fastest player. I know that there are differences between quickness (lateral agility, ability to change direction), speed (maximum attainable velocity) and explosiveness (acceleration). But I think that for the most part we would agree on a top 3 for overall fastest player that constitutes of Derrick Rose, John Wall and Russell Westbrook right? Now out of these 3 players, in order who is the fastest in terms of:

    Quickness

    Speed

    Explosiveness

And then in conclusion who you think is the fastest and why.

^^Ha, I heard that Avery Bradley is suppose to be faster than Rondo according to teammates.  Rondo is fucking quick as hell, so thats impressive.

On a separate note,rRemember when the Brazilian Blurr was on this list? LMAO

     Mine are:

Quickness: 1. Russell Westbrook, 2. John Wall, 3. Derrick Rose

Speed: 1. John Wall, 2. Russell Westbrook, 3. Derrick Rose

Acceleration: 1. Derrick Rose, 2. John Wall, 3. Russell Westbrook

In terms of fastest overall, I would have to say that the fastest athlete is John Wall, but the player that best utilizes how fast he is Derrick Rose. If you look at their games, John Wall doesn’t have an awesome ball handle, he doesn’t have a killer crossover that Derrick Rose pocesses but beats people in the open court by simply running faster than anybody. Rose uses jukes, change in pace and ball handling to get around players in a blink of an eye but not really his speed the way Wall does. I gotta say however that Westbrook looked abnormally fast as of late and am considering giving him the title of the fastest nba player, but I don’t see anyone running faster than John Wall.

    🙂

Lin had great numbers at the combine, also Lebron is probably in the discussion for fastest but I think he is a little slower than he used to be.

Tony Parker always gets forgotten in these types of topics, but the fact is that he’s still one of the fastest players in the league.

I know the Spurs are one of those teams who invested in STATS arena camera system. That is the cam system that tracks just about every single player movement on the court, including measuring the speed of players.  TP was measured with the highest on-court speed of 21 MPH.

Well just to be politcally correct, the fastest players in the NBA are Sonny Weems and Nate Robinson, who both did their sprints at the NBA combine in 2.96. Derrick Rose had 3.05, Westbrook had 3.08, John Wall had 3.14. Also Sonny Weems and Nate Robinson were both track athletes and Nate Robinson ran a 4.3 40 yard dash, he was a 3 star cornerback coming out of high school.

The quickest player in the NBA is Isaiah Thomas of the Sacramento Kings, Derrick Rose and Westbrook were slower than Wall in that regard, people need to know that you really cant’t compare speed and quickness together, Derrick Rose, is quick but he really has great body control, and a sick crossover which makes him look quicker than he is and Westbrook is slow explosive, he runs at full speed and either stop at the drop of a dime or goes straight up on a launch to the rim. Crossing someone over and be quick are 2 different things though. Isaiah Thomas is 2-3 seconds quicker than Wall, Westbrook, and Rose.

I felt like Rodrigue Beaubois from the Mavs use to be, before he got injured again and again! Avery Bradley is super quick, and don’t underestimate Eric Bledsoe (Clippers) or Ishmael Smith (Magic). John Wall , Ty Lawson and Rajon Rondo are speed demons with the ball in their hands. I also read that Tony Wroten is really fast as well.

I really don’t care. The saying is "everyone has the right to their opinion until someone disagrees." Well that’s all this site is. People always say combines don’t mean anything in sports but one thing a combine does great is test athleticism. Nate Robinson is by far the fastest player in the NBA. Not even close. He has the pedigree to prove it. What other NBA players have ran a 4.3 40 yard dash ? No player in draft database history has run a faster 3/4 court sprint than Nate Robinson. That’s just facts. I’ll get minus 100, but who cares. As Jay-Z said numbers don’t lie.

    @The Juice is LOOSE.

You’re not as "right on" as you think though…

The combine is useful, but you take that with a grain of salt. OJ Mayo tested with a higher vertical than Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook and Eric Gordon, but do you honestly think he can jump higher than them in an NBA game?

Kevin Durant is another guy… He had a poor combine. He’s actually a great NBA athlete. Luke Babbitt on the other hand had a GREAT combine, but he’s a terrible NBA athlete. Look at Monta Ellis’ combine numbers… He tested like an unathletic bum.

Another thing is there’s a difference between running at a combine and then dribbling with the ball in your hands in an NBA game.

And the last thing is it’s kind of crazy to use old combine stats when players are consistently improving and getting stronger every year.

Based on just combine stats, Joe Alexander is faster than Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, John Wall and Eric Gordon.

    Come on now…

He could do stuff like kiss the rim. There is no shame in being slower than that dude.

Seems like the combine is pretty accurate because there are only a small handfull of forwards that are faster than those guys at the combine. Its like Weems who plays a lot of guard, Alexander, Rodney Carney and a handfull of guys who didnt stick in the league.
