i would like to see prime wilt against kareem. it would give us an idea of who the real better center would be. kareem was better in this video at the beginning, and wilt got him more at the end of the video, but i would like to see a prime wilt and i don’t know who i would rather have if you put these two against each other in their primes. that’s also why i have to give much respect to olajuwon. the rockets didn’t face the lakers much in the 80s during the playoffs, but when they did, young olajuwon defeated older kareem. then older olajuwon later defeated ewing, slightly younger david robinson, and a younger shaq. nice video btw, thank you for sharing!

It seems like Kareem’s prime never matched up with the primes of the other great centers. Bill Russell had just retired and Wilt was older. Then Kareem was in his late thirties when Hakeem, Robinson, and Ewing joined the league.

Other than an injured Bill Walton, an undersized Dave Cowens, and a beastly Moses Malone (by the early Eighties) who did Prime Kareem face?

nate thurmond, bob lanier, artis gilmore, swen nater, under sized wes unseld, just to name a few. he actually played in a good era of centers. also some centers played there best ball in the aba. artis gilmore as i mentioned i would have like to see his accomplishments had he played his entire career in the nba. walt bellamy and mel daniels we could have seen more of to.

Good list. A few other guys include Hall of Famer Dan Issel, 7 time All-Star Jack Sikma and Bob McAdoo (who is often considered a PF but played a lot of C early in his career in Buffalo and was often matched against Kareem).

HOF if I’m not mistaken. Probably more for be a part of those Celtics and playing 20 or 21 seasons. Double-Double shot blocker for a long time.

Of the four best centers of all time (Russell, Wilt, Kareem, and Shaq) it is a shame that no more than two of them were ever in the league at the same time. Wilt played against Russell through most of his career and then Kareem at the end of his career. Shaq missed Kareem by 4 or 5 seasons. Shaq played a peak Hakeem earlier in his career. Same with David Robinson and also Ewing for the most part. But, by his prime the competition wasn’t really there except for Alonzo Mourning, Tim Duncan, and Yao Ming. Shaq’s peak didn’t match up with Dwight Howard’s peak either.

When you find two surefire HOF big men going against each other in their prime, it is pretty rare. Its a must-see even too.
