Cheikh N'Diaye, a 7-foot-1, 230-pound center from Carlsbad, Calif., has committed to Oregon State, according to several recruiting sites.

N'Diaye, from Army and Navy Academy, would join guard L.J. Westbrook of Salem in basketball coach Craig Robinson's 2013 recruiting class. Both are three-star recruits according to Scout.com.

, he struggled from the free-throw line, but he did block at least five shots in each of his last 15 games last season.

Robinson should have no trouble emphasizing defense with N'Diaye. After one game last season, N'Diaye talked about his willingness on defense.

"I just say no one is going to score on me,” N’Diaye told the San Diego Reader. “That’s my first job when I play basketball – defense is the first thing I do. Offense is the second thing.”

N'Diaye would give the Beavers a frontcourt in 2013 that would include fellow Senegalese big man Daniel Gomis (6-10), Devon Collier (6-8) and Eric Moreland (6-10).
