ANN ARBOR -- Michigan basketball scored its first commitment in the 2018 recruiting class on Thursday, picking up a pledge from Detroit native David DeJulius.
A 6-foot point guard from East English Village Prep, DeJulius is ranked as the No. 172 overall player in the 2018 class in the 247Sports composite. He's the No. 32 point guard and No. 6 player in the state.
DeJulius announced his commitment in the above video via Endless Motor Sports.
DeJulius has visited U-M multiple times and picked up a scholarship offer five days ago.
John Beilein was recently on-hand to see DeJulius pump out 46 points in a career-high performance against Macomb Dakota and Michigan State signee Thomas Kithier.
Beilein extended the scholarship offer soon after.
DeJulius is a right-hand guard with deep range and the ability to shoot on the move. He's a true point guard and will enter the U-M program behind Xavier Simpson, who will be a junior by the time DeJulius hits campus, and Eli Brooks, who will be a sophomore.
Brooks is currently a senior at Spring Grove (Pa.) Area High School.
Michigan has three additional 2018 scholarship offers on the table to Cormac Ryan, Brandon Johns, Robby Carmody and Jerome Hunter.
As it stands, Beilein can take two additional players in that class.
Michigan holds 2017 commitments from Brooks, shooting guard Jordan Poole and forward Isaiah Livers. The Wolverines have an offer on the table to top-three 2017 center Mohammad Bamba.
