Auburn's Bryce Brown withdraws from NBA Draft, will return for senior season

Auburn will have its best shooter back next season.

Starting shooting guard Bryce Brown will return for his senior season after withdrawing from the NBA Draft on Tuesday.

"It has been a dream of mine to play in the NBA one day," Brown wrote via Twitter. "I learned a lot about my game throughout the process and I want to thank everyone who helped me get to this point in my career. With that said, after talking with my family and coaches, I have to decided to return for my senior season at Auburn. We accomplished a lot last year on the court and I can't wait to see what we can do next year. War Eagle!"

The move was not unexpected, as Brown was not among the players invited to this month's NBA Draft Combine and he did not sign with an agent. He joins Austin Wiley, who also entered the draft without an agent and withdrew to return to Auburn for next season.

Brown averaged 15.9 points as last season, up from 7.5 as a sophomore, while shooting a career-best 40.1 percent from the field including 38.2 percent from 3-point range and 77.5 percent from the free throw line.

A first team All-SEC selection by the AP and second team selection by league's coaches, Brown made 107 3-pointers, second in single-season program history.

"Bryce has moved the needle as much as any player in college basketball," Aubur coach Bruce Pearl said in a statement. "To go from Auburn being the only SEC school to offer him and in three years be one of 30 players on the Naismith Trophy Watch List is truly remarkable. His ability to work hard, as well as accept coaching and changing roles has made him an All-SEC player."

Auburn's Jared Harper, who is also expected to return, and Mustapha Heron, who indicated he planned to sign with an agent but did not do so, also declared for the draft.

The deadline for players to withdraw from the draft is June 11, though the NCAA deadline to withdraw and maintain college eligibility is May 30.
