NBA Comparison: Dejounte Murray/Cole Anthony
Strengths: Fland is a 6’2 180 guard prospect with truly excellent quickness, speed and stop-start ability on the perimeter … A shifty and flashy player with an extra gear who is at his best with the ball in his hands; among the most dangerous scoring threats off the dribble in the 2025 Draft (15 PPG) and is a headache of a matchup for on-ball defenders … Talented with plenty of moves to keep players off balance and utilizes step-backs and impressive dribble combos combined with his quickness to get himself space to rise and fire jumpers … Utilizes screens and can navigate them well, likes to pull-up when given space and is decisive when he sees daylight … Nice shot; easy, quick release and shows deep range on his jumper and is a threat to hit shots off the bounce or with his feet set on the perimeter, making multiple 3s in 12 of his 18 games played as a Fr. (36.5 3FG% on 5.3 3FGA/G) … Can get hot and score points in bunches at times … Nice 1st step; can get matchups on their heels as you have to respect his jumper and utilizes that to get into the teeth of the defense well … Good passing skills on the move and can hit cutters or open shooters when he draws defensive attention as a slasher, and he took care of the ball this season (5.7 APG, 3.6/1 A/TO as a Fr.) … Also good at passing and relocating along the perimeter for open shots, showing good floor awareness offensively … Can play off the ball some and would fit well with a bigger guard on the court with him in these situations … Has runners and teardrops in his arsenal when he can’t get to the rim or sees shot blockers in the paint … Quick hands on defense and shows the anticipation to get some steals as a passing lane thief or help defender and has potential as a guy who can pressure the ball at the point of attack (1.5 SPG) … Makes few mistakes at the FT line when he gets there (84 FT% on 3.4 FTA/G), further showing his nice shooting touch … Fun to watch him create in transition play and has a flair and play style that will make him a fan favorite … Seems like he would fit well as an instant offense threat if he doesn’t develop into a true floor general …
Weaknesses: Not very strong at the moment; a thin player who doesn’t have a particularly impressive frame or physical profile for NBA standards as somewhat of a combo guard…Has speed and quickness, but isn’t a great leaper or much of an above the rim player … Lack of vertical pop shows when he looks to finish amongst the trees near the rim, where Fland struggles to convert over or through contact at the moment (41 FG% inside the arc)…Prefers to take floaters over trying to get all the way to the rim, and while he had some success these are lower percentage shots that Fland didn’t hit consistently (39% from the field) … A finesse player; avoids contact quite a bit and the average rate he got to the line for a much as he controlled the ball speaks to the lack of physicality he displays currently (3.4 FTA/G) … Arguably is underrated as a playmaker for others, but his first instinct is usually to score rather than facilitate when he has the ball, especially in ball screen situations … Shot selection could use work at times, as he will take some contested shots early in possessions … Confident, but is the type of player that will try to shoot himself out of slumps when he should let the game come to him or get his teammates more involved … Struggled to score during all 5 of Arkansas’ conference games that he played in before his season-ending hand injury (0-5 record, shot 22-78 FG during that stretch) …
Overall: Boogie Fland has been a heralded prospect since about the 10th grade in the NYC area, where he had a decorated HS career and was a consensus top 25 recruit in the 2024 Class … He committed to Kentucky at the beginning of his Sr. season but de-committed when Coach Cal left for the Arkansas HC job in April, and joined him as a major recruit for the Razorbacks 2024 class … He earned the role as the next young hotshot PG to play for Coach Cal, being a Day One starter for a pretty experienced but newly assembled Arkansas squad and he started the season off well, showing excellent scoring prowess and his trademark ability as a crafty, speedy trickster with the ball in his hands in exhibition games and in the nonconference slate … Things got tougher for him when the conference slate hit, as his inexperience showed against the stiff competition in SEC, which has been a gauntlet of a league this season with all of its strong teams … His scoring efficiency dropped significantly, which aligned with the Razorbacks dreadful 0-5 start to league play, and to make matters worse he suffered a hand injury that prematurely ended his Fr. season … Though he didn’t put a full seasons worth of film on display, there are plenty of things to be excited about with Fland, as he is a fun player with some creativity, shot-making promise, drive and dish skills and the playmaking ability on defense that leads to transition opportunities where he shines … He has limitations physically and athletically that cause him to struggle with efficient finishing and shot selection a bit at times, and he is more of a combo than a pure PG, but Fland has the tools to provide some excitement as a player … Projections have Fland anywhere from late lottery to into the 20s, and it will be interesting to see if he’s able to mend his hand in time to take part in draft workouts that would help him showcase his ability and solidify his stock …

Strengths: 6’2 combo guard … Good length … Can play on or off the ball. Constantly moves without the ball in his hands … Quick first step with the ball and effective jab step. Stays under control at a quick pace … Effective pull-up with good footwork off the dribble, stops on a dime, and gets shot off with little space from the defender. Gets hot from outside and can be a dangerous 3PT shooter. Good arc on shot and shoots off the catch or dribble … Good free throw shooter. Shot 75% (3-4) FT% at the U17 World Cup in 2022 and 77.5% FT% over the Nike EYBL in 2023 … Very good ball-handler. Creative and plays well off the dribble, changing speed and direction well with the ball. Doesn’t pick up his dribble early or put himself in bad situations with the ball. Effective crossover. Drives well going to his left or right and doesn’t need triple threat to get to the rim. Uses ball screens well and can split double-teams. Good body control and hits difficult shots at the rim with either hand … Reads and reacts well with the ball. Good court vision and makes impressive passes mid-drive. Very good in drive and kick situations. Averaged 3.6 assists to 0.4 turnovers per game at the U17 World Cup in 2022 and 2.8 assists to 1.6 turnovers per game over the Nike EYBL in 2023 … Defends well and competes on that end of the floor. Puts pressure on the ball-handler and gets cleans swipes on the ball. Averaged 2.1 steals per game at the U17 World Cup in 2022 and 1.7 steals per game over the Nike EYBL in 2023 … Tough player and highly confident … Vocal leader … Younger for his class, turned 18 in July after high school graduation …
Weaknesses: Thin frame and lacks strength … Very quick but isn’t an explosive athlete and is a below the rim finisher … Can improve scoring efficiency as well as shot selection. Averaged 4.6 points per game on 40.7% FG% at the U17 World Cup in 2022 and 15 points per game on 43.5% FG% over the Nike EYBL in 2023 … Good 3PT shooter but can improve consistency. Capable of hitting difficult shots but can be too quick with the trigger and content shooting with a defender in his face from distance. Shot 33.3% 3PT% on 5.6 3PT attempts per game over the Nike EYBL in 2023 … Undersized if his identity is based around scoring, which seems to be his natural approach. Still has room to grow as a playmaker, especially if he’s going to run the point at the next levels and reach his potential …
Outlook: Arkansas freshman … Played in the 2022 UA Next Elite 24 … Won Gold at the U17 World Cup in 2022 … Scored 17 points (6-14 FG, 3-6 3PT) and grabbed 5 rebounds in the 2024 McDonald’s All-American Game … Scored 9 points (4-8 FG) in the 2024 Nike Hoop Summit … Played in the 2024 Jordan Brand Classic …
