42 - Joel James

Strengths: Bigman with an intriguing combination of strength and agility to run the floor … A bull in a China shop. He’s a basketball version of a defensive takle, he’s an immovable object in the paint, ideal for setting screens and playing physical basketball … Appears to love contact, showing a willingness to give up his body and bang in the post … Unlike many guys his size, James shows touch and a willingness to hustle, geting up and down the floor with good speed … Plays light on his feet, allowing him to block shots and grab boards … Plays with good energy and hits the boards hard … Shows a soft touch and good shooting form, giving him promising potential offensive development … Has legitimate center size at 6’10 with a likely 7-foot plus wingspan …
Weaknesses: Still has a ways to go to become a complete basketball player … More prospect than player, at this point. While he shows a good shooting stroke, he still has a long ways to go offensively. He should look to develop a consistent mid-range jump shot and develop consistent post moves … Will need to prove that he can handle increased minutes without any conditioning issues …
Notes: Impressed scouts at the 2012 Maui Invitational with his combination of size, strength, mobility and touch … Was not a highly acclaimed recruit. Came into college ranked by recruiting gurus as as a top 60 high school senior in a weak class …
