NBA Comparison: Antoine Davis

Strengths: Incredible playmaking ability, using his change of pace in one-on-one matchups and the open court, leading to easy baskets for his teammates… Has elite vision, finding cutters, passing out of ball screens, or running in transition… The 4.1 assists per game do not nearly reflect his playmaking ability. He can get to the basket and finish around the rim with his speed… Has a knack for getting to the rim and drawing fouls… An incredible free throw shooter at 85% this season… Decent three-point shooter who can make shots behind the arc off the dribble and the catch… Not afraid to shoot from 25+ feet deep if no defender is near him… Has an excellent form and a quick release making it hard to get a hand in his face when he releases the ball… Will shoot the ball 10-15 times per game, so the defense always has to know where he is on the court… Spectacular ball handler, allowing him to split double teams and create scoring opportunities for teammates in tight spaces… On defense he is always hunting steals to make up for his size… Through half the season, he has been averaging 1.3 steals per game… His development over the past four seasons has been extremely promising, showing scouts that with some development in the NBA, he can turn into a key role player …

Weaknesses: Undersized for a point guard at 6’0, 180 lbs… His frame has allowed bigger guards to give him problems on defense in ACC play… Lack of physicality and strength has also shown difficulties for in guarding bigger and more physical opponents… He is also a weak defender, constantly exposed in isolation matchups and ball screens. Age (23) is also a concern for many NBA scouts questioning how much potential he has left to develop… Vareer 35$ from three, but shot just 32% as a senior this year …

Notes: 6’0, 180 lbs. Via North Carolina Athletics Website. From White Plains, NY… Played high school at Archbishop Stepinac… New York 2020 Gatorade Player of the Year and New Yorks Mr. Basketball… Consensus All-American First Team and ACC Player of the Year in the 2023-24 season… Finalist for Naismith trophy and Wooden Player of the Year…Winner of Jerry West Award…Fifth in all-time leading scoring at the University of North Carolina …
